So many people have made their first post here. Interesting..

I recommend this Wii/Wii U controller by InterWorks
Controller-Pro-U.jpg

It's a fucking SNES controller being penetrated by a Wii U Pro controller! I want this!
In fact, I want a genesis-style one... B-)

For the knowledgeable developers:
From a programming stand-point, what would it involve to make the adapter work for emulators? I ask because I may be interested in coding it myself, but I haven't studied the code behind Nintendont or other emulators to know how they go about emulating controllers. I get that you would have to send the handshake to initiate the adapter as Nintendont does, and then emulate each port as a classic controller... But if that was all there was to it, I expect somebody would have done it a long time ago.

I'm incredibly new to anything PC gaming related so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but would you be able to use the adapter for Steam games?

Yes. Download from here. (source code) However, it uses vJoy, so it is treated like a keyboard rather than a gamepad. (Which particularly makes the thumbsticks imprecise.)

EDIT: Actually, on second thought... I might be mis-remembering. You should try it out yourself. Either way, I do remember some peculiarities when using vJoy, but it might not be as bad as I was thinking.

Thank you! I'll try it out and see how it turns out.

EDIT: Would the OP's link for the OS X drive also work for Steam on Mac's?

Yes, I think it will. I have Area's Mac driver and I can use my Gamecube controller for lots of things on my Mac. If the Steam games you want to use it on can see a list of USB devices connected to your Mac then it should work.

If the game can't see it on a list of devices, there's another option of downloading a program called Enjoyable. This application will let you map your Gamecube controller button presses to keyboard button presses. I personally used the link for the OSX driver plus Enjoyable to use my Gamecube controller to play Castle Crashers on Steam.

I'm running OSX 10.11.3. I installed Xcode and tried to build the project (with the instructions from the ReadMe), but it wouldn't work.

The run destination My Mac is not valid for Running the scheme 'wiiu-gcc-adapter-bin'.

Also, when I open the makedmg and install files, there doesn't seem to be a way to run them, but I'm guessing that's something to be dealt with after the first issue...

Any clues? (Bear in my mind I know nothing about Xcode or programming, so start from the beginning and assume I know nothing!)

Thank you!

Never mind, I didn't see the link to download the dmg, so I guess I didn't have to do that first part now that I have... But I still can't figure out how to run install.sh. The run option in Xcode is grayed out.

Do original controllers release in 2001 with the GameCube have rumble or do I have to get a smash one for rumble?

Starting this thread since I'm sure it's going to be a big deal the longer time goes on. This'll be updated as needed (and as questions start rolling in so I can make an FAQ)

DOWNLOADS:
Windows
Linux
OSX
Nintendont (rename to boot.dol)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there patches for Wii games (such as Brawl) to support this?
A:
No. Currently the only support for it on vWii is with Nintendont

Q: Is it supported by <OS>?
A:
Most likely, yes.
Windows Driver
OSX Driver
Linux Driver

Q: Does it work with Dolphin?
A:
Yes. Download one of the latest dev builds, it should work on Windows and Linux. OSX isn't currently supported. For more information, see here.

Does the mayflash one support rumble on switch, wii u and dolphin?

My adapter and controller setup was fine until recently. Now whenever I try to run the adapter driver, the process immediately closes out by itself. I'm not sure what to do. I already tried uninstalling the driver and vjoy but the problem didn't go away. Can anyone help me?

sounds like a Windows Update broke stuff? the different versions (1903, 1909) tend to break a lot of stuff
you might be able to find a debug log about it

Since it's now been 5 years since the subject was last broached...
Has any progress been made with regards to getting the adapter working with Wii games in WiiU's vWii mode (aside from nintendon't)?

Irrelevant flavor/context incoming:
Family reunion last weekend and we got caught up revisiting some childhood classics but there's a bunch of Wii stuff we used to play that's GC controller compatible and has inferior and/or waggle-infested button mappings when using Wiimotes (like Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, which is pretty fun with GC controllers but sucks swamp-ass with Wiimote+Nunchuck) but I've since sold my Wii so I'd like to get stuff working on the WiiU if at all possible... otherwise I'll just get a Wii and copy over the relevant game saves (would appreciate a point in the right direction regarding software for such purposes, btw).
