Hi all,

I have been playing around with a switch I bought off ebay - it is running 6.2.0 Atmosphere but I bought it with a "faulty game card reader". I bought a replacement, replaced it and it doesn't seem to be working still. I have double checked everything and the hardware looks clean and I can't see any damage, even when booting into stock firmware. After reading around I have seen something about disabling the game card reader for updating firmware? I have a suspicion that the previous owner has done something to disable it, but I don't know too much about the downgrading/upgrading scene to know. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

To disable the cartridge slot, you have to boot into a CFW that supports the 'nogc' patch (which SX OS is the only one to not officially support) but to boot into CFW, you have to send a payload which by the sound of it, is not what you are doing. However if you are booting a CFW and just forgot to mention it, you can check that by looking at whatever files are on the SD card. But if you aren't booting any CFW at all, something might still be broken somewhere else.

If you are running CFW how can you fix the issue? I am running the latest atmosphere on FW 9.0.0 I just updated today. After updating today everything works except the game card reader. It was working before the update.

double check your touch screen works as well. i went through 3/4 board replacements until i found one that worked with my touchscreen. most games dont rely on it, but i needed the touchscreen so i could use choidujour nx to upgrade switch firmware, since it apparently only works via touchscreen.

My touchscreen and game cartridge don't work either in ofw. The touchscreen only works with hekate. I'm running 9.0.1 with hekate/fussee-gelee. The oem screen (badly scratched) works perfectly but the aftermarket screen only works in hekate. Any ideas?

I had to add nogc = 0 on bottom of BCT.ini in my atmosphere folder for my game cart reader to work. atmosphere is only one that support nogc.

But did your game cart work when you launched ofw? Or was it only not working in cfw?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
