Hacking USB Installation failure

To cut a long story short, I haven't succeeded in getting USB installation working for my Fat32 SD Card on emuNAND. Goldlead won't detect that I have the Switch USB connected (and yet it's charging!) and I HAVE tried every USB slot. When I try zadig 2.4, my device isn't recognised at all.

I recall helpful members of this forum recommending that I install TegraRcmGUI, which is supposed to make the USB installation work. I've just done, and the situation remains the same. Are there any drivers associated with TegraRcmGUI that I'm supposed to install individually?

Still not making any progress here...

First off, are you able to inject a Payload like Hekate with TegraRCM? If so try: ns-usbloader and Tinfoil.

TegraRCMGui has nothing to do with installing games with usb, it is simply to send the payload to give you CFW, or can be used to get your keys. But again nothing to do with installing games.

Try this
Get this version of Tinfoil https://github.com/satelliteseeker/Tinfoil/releases/tag/v0.2.1-USB-fix

Windows first run setup
In order to communicate with your Switch you must first install the libusbk driver. This only needs to be done once and will not affect your ability to send RCM payloads.

Download Zadig
Plug your Switch into your pc and open Tinfoil. Navigate to Title Management -> USB Install.
Open Zadig. In Options enable List All Devices. Select libnx USB comms. Select the driver libusbk and click Replace Driver

Your PC can now communicate with TinFoil.

Oh, a little something about TegraRCM... My Switch is ipatched, meaning I absolutely cannot go into RCM mode. Is it useful to me at all, for any purposes?

Where is libusbk driver installed, unto my computer? Does this mean I can choose to do this in Zadig BEFORE my Switch is recognised, and after this Zadig will recognise the console when it's USB connected?

So you're using Deja Vu and you're on Firmware 4.1 or lower?

I've never used Deja Vu but I don't think TegraRCM is useful for it.

Redownload Zadig.
Make sure you clicked "List all devices"
Post your Zadig log if it still doesn't work.

I failed to connect the two together, sorry about that. It's hard to see how things might be connected when you don't understand how any of this works. I just opened Zadig and selected to install the libusbK driver *without selecting any of the ports* and it did its job. My Switch is still not being recognised, tried an alternative port which is most likely a USB-C (but the console is being charged successfully wherever I plug it in).

@Lacius, I'm not sure what constitutes a log from Zadig (since it can't locate my console) but this is what the options look like when I try to get something / anything done in Zadig:

Click Options, and click List All Devices if you haven't already done so.
Make sure you Switch is plugged into your computer and in Goldleaf or DZ Tinfoil.
To post your log, click Options and Advanced Mode. Then, copy and paste the log.

Yeah, I've tried both Goldleaf and now also Tinfoil, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Could you please post a picture of the list of devices in Zadig after you select List All Devices while your Switch is plugged in and in DZ Tinfoil or Goldleaf? Or is that the above picture?

It's exactly the same as seen on that picture (I screenshot it a week or so ago and there hasn't been any change since then).

That's a very bad idea. Don't do that.

Do the following:

Close Zadig
Run DZ Tinfoil on your Switch
Plug the Switch into the computer
Load Zadig
Click List All Devices
Check if it appears

If it doesn't appear, do the following:

With the Switch running DZ Tinfoil and connected to your computer, open Device Manager.
See if you can find libusbK or Nintendo Switch.

Unrelated, but is there a reason you're on Windows 7? Updating to Windows 10 is highly recommended, since Windows 7 will lose all security support in a few months.

Basic question but do you start goldleaf on the Switch first and then Goldtree on the PC?

Nothing seems to work. Just checking, is DZ Tinfoil the one app that's all minimalistic with white text on a black screen that lets you install NSPs using a variety of means? Cause I seem to have two Tinfoils somehow, one is called 'HBGShop' for some reason? I am looking in the right place, aren't I?

There's no Switch in my devices either, or anything that would look like one. The computer makes no sound when I plug it in either, as if failing to recognise it (yet it does charge the console when it's plugged in).

I don't know if updating to Windows 10 would solve the issue. I'm on Windows 7 because I enjoy the interface more.

DZ Tinfoil is the one that is also used by HBG Shop, not the minimalistic one.

When you enter RCM on your Switch, is this the computer you use to send payloads to it?

As for troubleshooting, I would recommend using a different computer or updating to Windows 10. Updating to Windows 10 is highly recommended regardless for security reasons.

I would also like to see a picture of your Devices Manager with your Switch plugged in and in DZ Tinfoil.

I don't think I enter (or am allowed to enter) RCM on an ipatched Switch. I use Caffeine for CFW / homebrew. Auto-RCM enabled bricks the Switch.

If you have an ipatched Switch, nevermind.

Yes, this is what DZ Tinfoil looks like (with an HBG theme).

Unplug your Switch from your computer, enter the Device Manager, plug it in, refresh the page, and see if anything changes.

I highly recommend using a different computer or updating to Windows 10 as a matter of troubleshooting.
