hi it powers on now but says cannot display the software on the micro sd card the micro sd card could not be accessed

i click ok and it seems to work but most software is not showing up on the menu
What program did you use to reformat the SD card? Did you use the correct settings for the format, cluster size, disk, and partition types?

i followed all the steps in the link you posted and used MiniTool Partition Wizard
Hmmm... I want you to verify if GodMode9 recognizes your SD card.

In GodMode9, hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on [A:] SYSNAND SD Search for titles.

If the SD card is recognized, that [A:] SYSNAND SD should be visible. The title search should produce a list of TMD files with your 3DS collection.

This is to let us know your 3DS is indeed correctly reading off that card, at the very least.

If you saw the error message, "Could not detect a (micro)SD Card. The software on the (micro)SD Card could not be displayed.", this almost certainly means the card isn't formatted in FAT32 + MBR disk + Primary partition.

However, you stated you used MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition) as instructed. This leads to one other possibility.

***

@jamespoo, where did you buy your 64 GB sd card? Did you hardware test that card empty with a full Write + Verify in H2testw?

The external label means very little. Unless you already firsthand tested this card not too long ago with H2testw (Windows), F3 (Linux), or F3X (Mac), I always presume an SD card is either fake or has an underlying hardware failure until proven otherwise.

If you still have your 4 GB card, try a very basic setup to see if the 3DS is able to boots up Luma3DS v10.0 configuration and GodMode9. The other rare possibility is that your 3DS no longer has custom firmware and cannot read homebrew and nonlegit titles found in the Nintendo 3DS folder.

Don't trust the 64 GB card yet until it's tested with H2testw. This whole affair has been too fishy with it not formatting correctly on your earlier attempts.

If you intend to build a large game library, you need to be 100% certain it's reliable to hold all that data.

Try to get back your stuff by scanning your SD card with a data recovery software [1]. You should return the favor by fake deleting stuff off your cousin's computer for revenge.
