Hacking Update 5.1.0 Switch to latest exploitable firmware

Good day everybody,

My Switch is currently running 5.1.0 with ReiNX and I want to update it to the latest exploitable firmware.
If I am right firmware 8.0 is the latest exploitable firmware. Can I just update to 8.0 and use it in combination with Atmosphere 0.8.9?

Are you wanting to not burn fuses is the 1st thing I want to ask

8.0.1 is the latest supported firmware by ReiNX and Atmosphere. But why not update to 7.0.1 for now? No game requires 8.0.0+ yet.

and if you burn fuses 7.x there a good chance at a warmboot method to enable cfw but really do it the right way and offline method which doesn't burn fuses

So the best method, for now, is to update to 7.0.1 (without burning fuses) and use atmosphere 0.8.9, right?

So how does one upgrade to 7.1.0 without burning fuses? Is it straightforward? Assuming SX OS works on 7.1.0?

Smash and BOTW updates need 8.01

Games will require 8.0.x eventually, so I recommend updating to 8.0.1 if you don't use anything currently incompatible with 8.0.x.

With official software no, with custom software yes. You can already bypass with custom boot loader.

What I mean is, let's say I burned all my fuses will I be able to upgrade?

You can always upgrade, the fuse is for anti downgrade.

do you care if one day u can use cfw without a dongle or pc? if not then it doesn't matter.. but make sure atmos is updated before upgrading
