Hi, I bought a used r4i-sdhc this morning, and it works perfectly on my ds fat
I'd like to be able to use it on my 3ds that is already running under luma3ds at the fw 11.9.0-42E
I've been able to run it by using dsimenu++ and the option to run the slot-1 cartdridge, but I'd like to directly patch the system to allow it to appear on the 3ds system menu when inserted (so disabling completely the blacklist)
Is there a way to do it ?

if the cart is way too old, it still may not show, because it doesn't bother to fake a real DS game. the DSTT, for example does this. whitelist doesn't matter, you will ALWAYS need a launcher for it.

Test the card in a ds or ds lite (not DSI) if it does't show a legit game icon that's the problem.

well on my DS it seems like it boots when the DS logo appears and doesn't appear when I put it in after the menu appeared so I guess it's the problem

but in this case is there a cia that would boot it in one click ? since it's kind of a pain to always go through twilightmenu++

yes, there are some launcher CIAs. there's a generic one or two, and some specific ones (dstt has its' own launcher cia, for example). I do not know which one works with your card.

hmm, what fw did you download ?, could you directly do a copy of the fw you have on yours in order to allow me to test it to see if the prob comes from my 3ds or only from the cartdridge fw ?

Hi,

How do you go about installing cfw on a 2DS with firmware 11.90-42E, I am looking at buying one to replace my sons 2DS after he forced his DS card into his console upside down and backwards - it has shagged his SD card slot (I have tested other SD cards and it just says the SD card cant be accessed, write protected when its not).

I also have a Sky3DS+ which works find on his 2DS as it is, just can't use any games that require the console SD slot to save data too, like Pokemon and Mario Maker.

I also have another question.

If I have a 3DS XL that is already running Luma CFW and has Godmode9 - can the NAND Backup/Restore feature on Godmode9 be used on a completely different 3DS LL if I have a NAND backup of it.

I have a semi bricked JAP 3DS LL that wasn't running CFW - it was running Arm9Loader Hax and I think MenuHax to boot into Homebrew Loader by setting it to a button (DPad Down) when powering the console on, if nothing is pressed, the console will boot as normal.

But pretty sure I created a NAND backup using FBI installer, I see in the fbi directory that there is a NAND backup on my JAP 3DS LL

Basically when I power the JAP 3DS on, nothing happens, I just get 2 black screens with the console LED light up blue. I am able to enter Factory Recovery Mode by holding L+R+A+DPad UP (if I remembered that correctly) and after a few seconds the console enters the official Factory Recovery Mode.

It prompts me to activate the console WiFi and enter the routers password, which I do, it then runs a connection test which the first two steps are OK, but the actual connection to download the firmware update fails. I have no idea what the problem is due to the console been JAP.

So I was wondering if my other 3DS XL is able to boot into Godmode9 and enter NAND Backup/Restore (even created a NAND backup for that console), could that console SD card be inserted into my JAP 3DS LL console, enter Godmode9 to then install the NAND backup I already had created on that console?

I know its OTT questions, but it has been over 5 years or so since I've even touched a 3DS console, so I have forgotten everything I knew back then and have no clue what is what now.

Thanks

wow 3 years, so the first post having the same firmware on this 2DS ive seen today, is it that nintendo havent released any new firmwares for the 3DS.

in regards to my JAP 3DS, ive searched the web high and low and cant seem to find an answer, even made a post on here.

Id have thought if it can do the job on one console, why it couldnt on another and everywhere on the web says how cfw tools are far better than hardmods which could recover other consoles, but i cant seem to see if doing it for cfw tools.

1.) You will need to connect to a Japanese VPN to access the Japanese Nintendo CDN.
2.) You cannot use another console's NAND onto another console from a different region as they all use unique console keys.

ok ive no idea how to do VPN with my new ISP
2) the NAND backup I have is off my JAP 3DS, I just dont know if or how or even if I can use my other 3DS console SD card which has cfw running and Godmode9.

You can't use your NAND backup on another console, as you can permanently brick it.
Perhaps use a free proxy, there's a list of them somewhere online.

https://3ds.hacks.guide/ (different Language in upper right corner)
This guide is compatible with every retail device in the Nintendo 3DS family of consoles (including the New 3DS series and the 2DS), regardless of region or firmware.

can the NAND Backup/Restore feature on Godmode9 be used on a completely different 3DS LL if I have a NAND backup of it.
Dont even think about it, the Nand is bound to the system by System ID. A Nand backup from different system will brick it.

From arm9loaderhax to boot9strap

Else check for troubleshooting

as said (sorry if it wasnt clear) the NAND backup I have is for the JAP 3DS LL which I want to use, question was can you use a different consoles sd card with Godmode9 to install it to my JAP console.

So basically if my AUS 3DS is running CFW and has Godmode9 and can enter it to re install NAND Backups.

Can you use it to recover other consoles (as long as they have the NAND for that console)

Ok sorry ill try again.

3DS JAP is semi brick but have a NAND backup

3DS AUS has cfw/Godmode9

Can i take my AUS 3DS SD card, insert into my JAP 3DS to then install the backup of my JAP NAND.

I mean if an SD card is configured to run CFW and Godmode9 which can be used to re install NAND backups.

Could that then be used in ANY 3DS console to re install NAND backups, as long as that NAND backup belongs to the console you are wanting to recover.

As I and @Sypherone has already said before, you can brick your console if you restore the NAND of another console. If you mean preparing files, then yes.
