In the parameters of your loader, put CIOS 250 and save, then restart your loader.

Put your games on the external hard drive (FAT32) with wii backup manager.

Your games are not corrupt ??

With wii backup manager, you can see if your games are good, with the SHA1-hash.

I tried 250 and get the same problem I had with 249.
The games work fine after I take the power out and load it again. I have to keep taking the power out and start again every time due to it freezing on the loading. Once in a while it works.

Maybe your external hard drive needs a Y-cable for better connectivity with the Wii, to test.

I’ve just bought a y-cable adapter which will arrive tomorrow. I hope it does the trick.
The hard drive I’m using is a Samsung ST500LM012

Please forgive my "newbie" tag/post count been playing/modding Wii's for so many years since they first come out with twilight. I've used USB Loader GX for countless years never had an issue. I was at work the other day and heard someone saying how do you even get games to show up... I laughed and thought if you read the manual you'd know! So... Last few days I decided to pretend to start off knowing nothing.... I'm in awe of my findings.

1.) The google code/SourceForge page goes into details how to install the application, how to install forwarders etc.
But stops dead with no instructions how you must mandatory label your game [ID] correctly for the system to see it.

So I thought okay okay... Not the best place to look so thought first thing people would do is google USB Loader GX sure enough it comes to this 1279 page thread!
I thought ha ha... silly work people... It's all listed here how to label your game [ID] correctly for the program to see it.... Wrong!!!!

On the front page it lists every single thing, change logs even down to how to put the paths in for nintendont..... STILL not a single mention about how to put the
games onto a drive and label them correctly lol so... I decided to start out reading page after page I got to page 29 and just stopped.

There's no where on the project homepage | On the front page | that explains anything to new people.
The two videos on youtube on the front page 1 of them is un-available the other shows GX working but doesn't show how to get actual games on the hdd/SD card?

I understand it's like 10 + years ago.... But these threads as they was wrote 10 years ago was actually present time.. So even at this time no instructions what so ever?
I know the program inside and out but only by using Wii Backup Manager. Without this programs, or other programs nobody would know how to re-name game ID titles for GX to even see the games.

When you look over at the nintendont section on this forum there's like a major chapter with examples how to do it right with title ID, what the game/disk needs to be called which is fantastic.
But for this app....Anyone who didn't have a clue who's just starting off wouldn't know how to label games? I cannot even find any mention anywhere on the front post that to do this you should
use Wii Backup Manager etc... Because without this program it would be impossible to figure all this out manually for a new person who's just getting started.

Can someone do something about this maybe to help new people? Or at least who's friends with the original poster in this thread to do something. No wonder the guys at work was so stumped.

Can you summarize your post please? If you need help with putting games correctly on your USB it's easy.
By default, each game should be like this (example):
Code:
USB:/wbfs/This Is A Game [GAMEID]/GAMEID.wbfs
Just replace
Code:
This Is A Game
with anything but I recommend the game's name
Replace
Code:
GAMEID
with the ID6 of the game (You can find that over at GameTDB)
Wii Backup Manager automatically does this for you.

I really wish this loader is able to change the width of wii games between 640-720. My 4:3 wii games are showing up slightly too wide using my m-cable... Nintendont has a setting to force the width of GC games to be 640 or 720 or anywhere in between which works great to compensate for different games/displays. Any suggestions?

I tested some versions of USB Loader GX, especially the first after 1247 and many of them dont work with emunand on discs. 1247 is still the last version as far as I know that emunand on disc games works, after that version, if you click "Mount disc" to run a game and set up anything, it will load default settings, but if I install the same game in a USB drive, all settings, including emunand are applied.
I know the main issue is settings dont apply to disc games, but emunand is a feature I mostly use and it is easier to see if patches of the loader are being applied. I used mostly Mario Kart Wii to test it: if it had a blank license card, I knew immediately the game was not loading my settings. I tried sometimes wiimmfi and it doesnt work, but I think it is because the friend code was not generated in a blank save.
I will try more "versions in the middle" because the most recent ones and the ones right after 1247 have this issue.

I’ve just bought a y-cable adapter which will arrive tomorrow. I hope it does the trick.
The hard drive I’m using is a Samsung ST500LM012
I have the same drive and it works fine without y cables (on Wii, Wii U requires Y cables for everything). Maybe try another HDD enclosure or try to format using gparted in a Linux distribution (when open,in the correct drive click Devices > Create a partition table > msdos) and then you can format in FAT32.

Hey guys. I was using the rev. 1268 until now for playing my Wii games. After some years I realized that I should update to 1271. However there seems to be a problem. I don't know why but the capacity of my hard drive is displayed "differently" (pic is attached)

I have PAL Wii (Germany) - redownloading the rev. 1271 and replacing it in the apps folder doesn't solve the problem. But if I downgrade to rev. 1268 it is shown in the right way (but with rev. 1268 I can't change the language from english to german )

Anyone got an idea how to solve this?

I couldnt figure out how to set my cover to full. Is it compabilitity to display full cover on USB Loader-GX like wiiflow?? I was surprised that at first Wiiflow couldnt load and crash on Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and thought it was bad isos or the wbfs. i download different site get it 3 of each but damn me i should have tested with usb loader-gx and it load right up working fine. Downloaded the covers from there and tested with WiiFlow again and it runs fine and copied the covers to Wiiflow. Thats messed up

affected ? I guess it's not taking advantage of it when inside the loader.
i don't think it has any impact on the game.
but it could be changed to make the picture look better when inside the loader. a simple recompile is not enough, I think the loader needs to use the same added detection.

note that I only took a quick look, I might be wrong.

Ah gotcha. I don’t really know the details of the revolution SDK or the libogc library (?). If it doesn’t alter game picture and needs rewriting parts of USBgx then it’s probably not worth it. Thanks for looking in to it! Hope you are doing well!

I'm a completely new person to this. I'm sure you guys have heard it all before and are going to get irritated with me, but I can't seem to figure out why my USBLoaderGX will not initialize whenever I try to "install" a game. This was going to be my first goal - install a wii game to a USB drive. I wanted to backup my entire physical collection with this method. My second goal was to install a bunch of WADS and run them from SD Card or USB whichever seems to be the easiest way or compatible or cleaner...

Here is my USB
Samsung MUF-256AB/AM FIT Plus 256GB - 300MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive
Formatted to FAT32 using FAT32 GUI FORMATTER

I used ModMii guide to get everything up and running. Up in the right hand corner of the homebrew channel it reads "IOS58 V24.32" I tried changing the Loader IOS to 58, 236, 249 and nothing works. What is Loader IOS and Game's IOS specifically?

Edit: tried loader with 250 still not working. i have the usb thumbdrive in the slot next to the edge of the wii

Rules #1 : NEVER EVER USE FLASHDRIVE WITH USBLOADERS !
And that's all for the rules :P
Actually, never use them with Wii and WiiU, they are not compatible with any homebrew. Even Nintendo officially recommended on their website/FAQ to NOT use flashdrives, even though the reason is different.

Then there are tips :
Tips #1 : if you use a WiiU (instead of a Wii), you need y-cable to get power from 2 USB Port if your drive is not externally powered.
Tips #2 : Don't use d2x r53 (this is the latest, and LAST IS NOT BETTER !). prefer d2x v8 (on wii) or d2x v10 r52 (on vWii).
Tips #3 : always use port 0 (bottom on Wii, back-top on wiiU), and don't plug more than one HDD at the same time. (exception with WiiU HDD, which is skipped by usbloaders).
Tips #4 : if your HDD (not flashdrive) still have detection issue and is stuck or skipped at the 20sec init screen, go to usbloader settings and set the "loader' IOS" to 58.
Tipc #5 : you better use Wiitdb to get proper game's titles. settings>update>wiitdb. Then go to Settings>features>and enable "use gametdb".

You don't need to try slot250, the new modmii setup already installed the better version of cIOS d2x v8 final base57 directly in slot 249.
all guides and user's suggestions found on internet telling you to "use 250" is based on the fact the better version was installed in 250 instead of default slot for 10 years....
you already have "base57" (the best version) in default slot now.

If you really really really can't use a real external HDD (why not buy one?), and you only have a flashdrive, then you can try to format the flashdrive to WBFS format.
once in WBFS format, NEVER EVER use "WBFS manager" program, but use "wii backup Manager" instead.
you can't put anything but Wii games on it. (no gamecube, no emulators, rom, wads, etc.)
But just know that WBFS is not a fix, it's a workaround : the flashdrive will work fine in read mode, but will STILL freeze when trying to dump a disc to usb. Write mode is broken and unsupported on flashdrives.

For wad install : https://gbatemp.net/posts/6592730

quick setup in 3 steps :
- go to settings > features > dump NAND > full
- go to settings > features > WAD manager to install wads to that dump copy now located on SD:/nands/01/ folder
- main window > top menu > 4th icon > enable "channels on emuNAND"
Done :)

Hello.:)

I have a question please for loading Channels (mainly VC games) they where moved to the SD Card:

I can start them from the Wii System Menu.

Is there also an option to load/start them with the USBLoader GX (without something like emuNAND and this things please.I think i am "overchallenged" with this) ?
I would like to use it with cheats.....:shy:

Thank you for your help and advice.

no, there's no way to launch channels "backup'd" to the official SD menu.
the SD menu doesn't have the channel's data (file and folders), but an encrypted package. like a WAD but encrypted with your unique ConsoleID.
to launch a game located on Sd menu, it would require :
- decrypt the binary from SD using your console's unique key to get the actual channel's files and executable.
- enough free space on realNAND to copy the game to a hidden channel
- launch that hidden channel now located on real NAND.

These 3 steps are actually what the console is doing on every SD menu game launch.
it's not launching the game from the SD, but extracting the game to internal first.
if you already launched a different "SD game" before, it's deleted first to be replaced with the new launched "SD game".

It's completely possible to add that feature, but to me it's too much work.
you better just launch it from the official Wii system menu first, it'll copy the game to internal. now you can launch it from USBLoaderGX's interface as long as you don't launch another game from official SD menu (which would replace the game located on internal)

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
