Hello,

I normally don't post as often but I am taking the chance now to ask the main question: how do I get CFW for a switch? To go into detail, my friend wants me to get CFW for his switch since he trusts me to try going through the procedure of getting it (this is due to me getting CFW for the 2DS.) I am also curious on how to get CFW for a switch too since I will be planning to get a switch with CFW in the near future so I am curious on how to do it and what are the requirements for me getting CFW.

Just a small note that I do not know much about getting CFW for a switch. I mostly remember that it all depends on the serial number of the model and the specific firmware ver. that the switch has to be on but I had looked up on this quite a while ago so I do not know if there were any changes now.

The only requirement for CFW on the Switch is that you have a Switch that is vulnerable to the RCM exploit, which is a hardware vulnerability and is not patchable on that system. You should compare your serial number to the serial thread, and you should test if you can launch RCM payloads.

If you have a Switch that is vulnerable to the RCM exploit, I recommend using Atmosphere as your CFW. There is no reason to purchase anything.

Hey, to start first make sure you have a hackable switch base on your serial number. Theres a thread with this information.

Once you have that, then you will need an sd card (suggest the bigest you can afford).

Then it's up to you to ether go for atmosphere (free) or Sxos (one time purchase).
What's the suggested sd card size? How big is the size file for switch games?

If in a scenario where my friend didn't have a vulnerable switch, should my friend sell it at that point or keep the switch in the likelihood that there will be new methods to getting CFW in the future?

I'd recommend selling the Switch, but a patched Switch will be vulnerable to certain unreleased software exploits in the coming months/years as long as it's on a low system version like 4.1.0.
