Sure actually every GameCube controller is compatible with the Wii as long as it has the ports. For example the newer model Wii (slim I think) removes controller and memory card slots. Make sure your Wii has the stand. Also the Wii mini is not compatible with this controller

I just picked up the wired ssb GC controller and have run into a problem with nintendont.
First game I tried was true crime and when I'm in a car the brakes are held on. Anyone had an issue like that? Buttons seem to work correctly when on foot.
Using config A in the game (a= accel, b=brake) the brakes are locked on and a can't over ride them enough to drive. As soon as I get into a car it starts reversing

I've tried making sure the controller is plugged in right (before switching wii on)
I tried updating nintendont but it says build (18 dec 2018) is the latest. I did update controllers.zip though and no effect.

Is it a game problem, nintendont, settings or this controller? Any help appreciated as I bought it for my kid as I promised it to him and now he's disappointed it's not working right.

E: The game works fine with a generic classic pro controller plugged into a wii remote. And all the buttons on the SSB GC controller (like the problem A and B buttons) works in the game menus.

E2: I changed controller config to 2 L= brake, r= accel. In this mode the brakes/rev seems 'on' but the accel can over ride the brakes and the brake lights switch off when accelerating making the game more playable but my kid has to learn new buttons for car entry, shooting etc.

OK, got it sorted. One of the first things i tried was set nintendont boot option to native controller before booting, and that did not work.
Then I tried to update nintendont and after rebooting it must have reset the native controller to off.
I just tested it now and it fully works (It's really hard to run heaps of tests as a kid thinks you're taking the controller off them and playing their game and wasting time with reboots :) )
