Don't use Wii Backup Manager for SSBB. Use WIT. WBM corrupts that game's partition tables.

There should only ever be two wbfs files: .wbfs up to 4GB, .wbf1 for anything over (a dual layer DVD is 8.5GB max.) I'm not even sure USB loaders would recognize the extra files.

SOLVED: Ugh... finaly I solved this! So apparently it's not actually Wii games: /wbfs/game title [titleid]/titleid.wbfs as you said above.. but instead it's Wii games: /wbfs/titleid.wbfs

Placing the wbfs game files in a folder hides it from being recognized by any loader or program. Ugh finally. Thanks for your help!
Hi. I had the same issue and thought I'd solved it after reading your thread as I can now see the titles in the USB Loader. But no matter which game I select the Wii just freezes on a black screen. I can load and play them all if I format the drive with the old wbfs system. Any idea what might be wrong?

without proper explanation of what you have, it's hard to tell what's wrong.

only WBFS format works?
then it's either :
- your cIOS are outdated (rev17 ?)
- your NTFS partition is using the compressed setting
- You didn't use WiiBackupManager correctly or just copied the file with wrong path/filename
- did you try FAT32? :crystalball:

Wii games don't run under another application. They run using the IOS they were written to support or a cIOS that you have installed and specify in the Wii loader. GC games don't actually run under Nintendont either once they're loaded. Nintendont patches its code that redirects the disc interface, etc., into IOS 58 then starts the game.

If you have Wii games selected in the categories on USB Loader GX and they're not showing up then they're either not in a valid folder or the drive isn't partitioned/formatted correctly.

GC games: /games/game title [titleid]/game.iso
Gamecube: "/games/Game Title [TitleID]/game.iso" (or "disc2.iso" for second disc of two-volume games)
Wii: "/wbfs/Game Title [TitleID]/TitleID.wbfs" ("TitleID.wbf1" for the overflow file if the game is >4GB and you have them split)

All loaders are compatible with that naming scheme.

Wii gameS: /wbfs/game title [titleid]/titleid.wbfs

Mortal Kombat Armageddon .Iso won't open or even be read and I tried conerting it to a .wbfs with WiiBackUpManager but it still won't work, you seem fairly educated here so once again, asking you for help. Much appreciated.

Make another backup of it? That game should work fine.

Apologies if this has been asked a million times before. However, since updating my Wii-U (European model) to the latest firmware, USB Loader GX can no longer see the Wii games installed on my USB HDD, although it CAN see the installed Gamecube games. I tried the suggestions in the earlier posts in this thread, but still no joy. I tried all the different options in the Hard Drive Settings > Install Directories, but non work. My games are all installed like this on the HDD:

GC games: /games/game title [titleid]/game.iso
Wii games: /wbfs/game title [titleid].wbfs

I also tried this:

Wii games: /wbfs/game title [titleid]/titleid.wbfs

But still no joy, regardless of how Hard Drive Settings > Install Directories was set. Anyone have any ideas? All these games worked fine on vWii before I installed the latest Wii-U update.

Similar, yet not, issue: when I first formatted my usb hard drive to ntfs the wii games and gamecube game showed up fine. The gamecube game said it needed fat32 to load up the game and the wii games just wouldn't load up (black screen and back to usb loader gx screen).

Once i formatted it to exfat the games don't show up and in the settings for usb loader it only shows ntfs on the first option under hard drive settings.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to blow out the config for usb loader and try again?

Also, how do I get it to load without having the SD card inserted? My brother has it so his Wii just loads up from the usb drive, but then someone hacked his Wii and just copied everything over to his usb drive.

the solution is in your question.
it tells you it needs FAT32 and you format it to exFAT.

you need to format the drive to FAT32, like asked.
exFAT is supported only by gamecube games. (NOT the loader, not other homebrew, not HBC. only nintendont)
NTFS is supported only by Wii games.
FAT32 is required for HBC, and many homebrew.
FAT32 is supported by ALL homebrew, Wii games and gamecube games.

if you don't want to use SD card, put everything on USB. but it can be problematic if you use a problematic device (like flashdrive instead of real external HDD)

Ok, so fat32 solves all my issues then? Including the usb issue?
I just find it off that my brother has it will on a USB and it's formatted to exfat.

exFAT support needs to be added per homebrew, and wii homebrew are old and abandoned, don't expect old homebrew to be updated to support it.
only Nintendont supports it right now. maybe some homebrew can list file content, but might not be fully compatible and can corrupt the partition if support is not properly added.

If you want HBC to list and launch homebrew from USB, you need to format it to FAT32.
unless latest open source HBC has exfat support? I can't tell.

I recommend using FAT32 and all your issues will be solved at the same time.
if you need a FAT32 formatter, you can use this one : http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm
that's one of the best (if not the only one), because the OS have issues formatting big partitions.

Ok thank you. I wound up formatting and now everything shows up but I can only load up the gamecube game. The wii games go black screen and back to the Wii system menu

I ran syscheck and it didn't mention any issues. Is there a specific ios version I should be running?

The syscheck won't tell you if something is wrong, the point is to post it here so we can look at exactly what cIOS you've installed, and we tell you what's wrong lol
