Hacking Question Is anyone working on an XCI loader for the free CFWs?

would you like an XCI loader on all CFWs?

  • Yes and I would use it.

  • Yes, but just as an extra feature that I may not use.

  • No thanks.

I know NSPs exists, I know you can actually install XCIs.
I like using XCIs, it's easy to swap games, I don't have to worry about installing and uninstalling games. I don't need to worry about having enough space on my SD to have the files and then install it, I don't need to worry about having a Hdd with the games files on to install.
I am still yet to be banned and I feel as though not using NSPs has been a factor in that.
My personal preference is XCIs.

The issue is, that only SX offer this feature at the moment.
And although I don't have an issue using SX, I don't really trust that they will always be able to support the latest OFW version, since we are still waiting for 7.0.x support.

I just wondered if there was anyone out there making an XCI loader and how many others out there would like an XCI loader for all the CFWs.

XCIs are objectively safer to use, as you don't need to worry about fake tickets in your ticketDB (perhaps the most common cause of bans). Using standardcrypto NCAs does alleviate this issue somewhat, but for some reason none seem to actually use this.

Regardless, in terms of telemetry, if you stay offline when in CFW using XCIs loaded, you will have a much lesser chance of getting banned, thus there is a massive advantage to using XCIs if you only own 1 system, and wish to also play online in OFW.

Now as for other CFW, I know ReiNX specifically is working towards re implementing all SX services, and there is in fact a working XCI loader for sub 5.x FW, this is however not publicly available. Give it a few more months and something should be released.

I understand that respectable devs don't want to support piracy. But piracy is now possible for everyone. We can already use NSPs, and XCI is also an option for a price. Plus we have XCIs>NSPs, and we can install NSPs off of a HDD.
At this point, if any dev is capable of creating a XCI loader (and the ability to load XCIs off a HDD like SXOS), what's stopping them? And if these devs oppose what TX do or stand for, isnt making a free XCI loader the best way to hurt them?

Yes, Rei and the team who created ReiNX are working on it but he said that he is working full time. So it will take a while. Rei is at Discord for ReiNX. A very friendly person and easy to communicate. He said dont know when because he is working full time.
