Have an early Switch with 4.1. Upgraded to 6.1 a month ago with ChoiDujourNx WITHOUT exfat - only fat32. I used a format utility to format sd card to fat32 to a larger size than Windows 7 allows. Running SX Pro 2.53. EVERYTHING has worked perfectly. Today I wanted to add a game file to the card, so I powered off selecting "power - turn off". Put the new cut files on the card, but it now won't boot. Only black screen.

I did turn on "RCM" within ChoiDujourNx and SX Pro screens previously (not sure if having selected from both screens might cause this). I only put to "sleep" normally but since I was removing SD card I shut it down. Now I have only a black screen, can't get it to respond. It was off the charger station overnight (about 12 hours) before I tapped the power button and powered it down (instead of sleep) to add files to the sd card. This Switch has never played online or gone online. I have the charged plugged in, but there is no indication of anything.

Any ideas. It all worked fine until I choose to power down to add a game backup file. Now it won't boot.

could you see the TX logo when booting up?
if not, hold Power for 15 seconds and try turn it ON again
if there is TX logo then black screen, hold Power for 15s then eject and reinsert microsd and try turn it ON again

Sounds like you have AutoRCM activated or your Switch ran out of power. Could be both.

Can you inject a payload? Use the SX OS one or Hekate.

It could be in RCM. Have you tried injecting a payload? The battery could also be dead, a common problem for users of autoRCM. Probably easy to fix.
P.S. next time don't bother turning off your Switch to remove the SD card. Use NXmtp to transfer files, and USB install your NSP files. I haven't pulled out my SD card in weeks.

It won't boot at all, just a black screen. I'm charging now. I thought there was a charge indicator battery icon before this happened when charging, but now just a black screen. Totally non-responsive. I have held the power switch for 15 seconds. Again, nothing after doing that. Next I'll try to inject payload. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!

OK... I held the power switch down 15 seconds. I then plugged the switch into my Windows 7 usb port using the SX Pro supplied USB cable which fits into the SX Pro dongle which is inserted into the swtich. I have the jib also in the right hand side of the switch. I tapped the power button and in device manager now I get "libusbK Usb Devices / Nintendo Switch APX Mode. I assume this is a GOOD thing. The switch screen is still totally black. No indication whatsoever its on. The green led is lit on the SX Pro dongle.

I then start TegraRcmGUI (2.4) and it shows RCM OK, and "Waiting for user action". I injected hekate_ctcaer_4.8.bin and got the screen to display! So now, where from here?

Thanks again!

Just inject the sxos payload and see if it works. Your battery was probably dead. Let it charge to 100%. If you're using emunand, there is no reason to have autoRCM, as there is zero risk of burning fuses. Install a white theme for emunand and a black theme for sysnand, to differentiate them visually. Also, remember what I said. Stop pulling out your SD card. It's not needed anymore.

Use Goldleaf or SX Installer's usb installation and you won't need to power down to install nsp's or copy over xci's. You also won't have to deal with the annoyance of clearing extra space to copy the file and then install it if your micro sd is nearly full. Super convenient. But glad you got it fixed. :grog:

How are they working now? Initially they were supposed to be quite temperamental using usb installation. - Just curious.

I've mainly been using SX Installer and have no complaints. There are some very minor bugs but they're not deal breakers. I've only used Goldleaf once and it worked flawlessly but I mainly use SX Installer because it has some features I prefer over Goldleaf, such as the ability to run xci's directly off the external drive, which means you can have terabytes worth of games ready to play, docked only of course though. With SX you install them through a drive connected to your dock. With Goldleaf you install them directly off your PC which has pros and cons imo. I'm sure Goldleaf has perks that SX doesn't as well. I'm making sure to point that out before the anti-tx folks jump on me.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
BakerMan @ BakerMan: idk how hot of a take this is, but science as a subject sucks
