Like Fledge I've tried ftp and had several crashes or incomplete copy/file corruption with WiiFlow and ftpii.
As for sending a dol over wifi like other wii devs I've done it maybe over a thousand times. The most reliable is with the mother of all Wii homebrews : Homebrew Channel.
I've tried with WiiXplorer, Homebrew filter and it had some issues with wiiload. To be honest, with HBC it disconnects sometimes and you have to click on the 'wifi' icon with the wiimote.

I have had similar experiences. Such a shame. Would be exceptionaly useful.
I am sure it used to be pretty solid, the fact that it was definitely working and had a few updates suggests to me it's a problem growing from changes to the structure underneath. Who would i speak to, about how ftpii may have been effected by updates, how would I go about finding someone to fix it?
Ftp would make dedidicating a hdd to games easier because you could share your media from the same drive. @Wiimpathy sorry to bother and thanks for your informative replies, but it is it feasible to get someone to look at it?
@fledge68 Could you reduce wiiflow's size by dropping the screensaver functionality into dol launched after a countdown?
You could design the screen saver dol to autorelaunch wiiflow on waking.

wiiflow's screensaver takes very little code. all it does is draw a black rectangle to fill the screen on top of everything with little transparency (alpha).

You don't bother me but I have no real good answer to your request. I just know that the wifi card isn't the best you can find. There are other protocols for sharing files like samba used in the GX emulators for example. Fat32 also tends to corrupts the drives easily. Libfat had issues with corruption in the past.
FTP isn't the safest protocol either. Well, I'm not a network specialist so someone else may have a better answer.

On another subject, have you made some progress with Quake GX?

I was only chasing ftp as I thought it was the only available option! Did not realise GX had samba, do you know if anything can just share a wii attached hard drive as a samba drive - or is that something else entirely? Would it be worth approaching tantric?
Lots to share on the Quake front - i'll PM you and a few interested parties.
@fledge68 I appreciate the code involved in the wiiflow screensaver is simple, do you think loading an external dol might increase the functionality, even to allow the possibility of a bigger, better, more sophisticated screensaver without bloating wiiflow?

I've spent the last 3 weeks modding my Wii and came across Wiiflow and all the fantastic work that has been done to maintain and update this project. I've finally got all of my games, emulators, and covers named and organized correctly and everything is working flawlessly except for one thing and I can't figure out why.
I'm using vbagx for GB, GBC, and GBA. When launched from HBC or the regular wii menu channel it plays GB, GBC, and GBA games without a problem. However, in Wiiflow I am only able to load GBC and GBA games. Everytime I try to launch a GB classic game from wiiflow I get a black crash screen then Wiiflow reloads.
Is there a way I can generate some kind of log or report to see what is causing this? Any help is much appreciated.

1. if you use the source menu/ source flow can you post a copy of your source_menu.ini?
2. can you list all the ini files in your wiiflow/plugins folder?
3. can you post a copy of your vbagx plugin ini?

Here's a screenshot of my plugins folder. Im using the big Abz wiiflow pack I found. Most of this stuff is unused.

dolfile=vbagx-mod13.dol
romdir=vbagx/roms/
filetypes=.agb|.gba|.bin|.elf|.mb|.dmg|.gb|.gbc|.cgb|.sgb|.zip|.7z

@fledge68 I'm certain they are all 3 identical. Here's a copy paste of them:

[PLUGIN]
displayname=VbaGX GB
magic=56424168
coverfolder=vbagx/GameBoy
dolfile=vbagx-mod13.dol
romdir=vbagx/roms/GameBoy
filetypes=.bin|.elf|.mb|.dmg|.gb|.zip|.7z
consolecoverid=nintendo
covercolor=fcff00
bannersound=GB.ogg
arguments={device}:/{path}|{name}|{loader}

[PLUGIN]
displayname=VbaGX GBA
magic=56424188
coverfolder=vbagx/GameBoy Advance
dolfile=vbagx-mod13.dol
romdir=vbagx/roms/GameBoy Advance
filetypes=.agb|.gba|.bin|.elf|.mb|.dmg|.zip|.7z
consolecoverid=nintendo
covercolor=fcff00
bannersound=GBA.ogg
arguments={device}:/{path}|{name}|{loader}

[PLUGIN]
displayname=VbaGX GBC
magic=56424178
coverfolder=vbagx/GameBoy Color
dolfile=vbagx-mod13.dol
romdir=vbagx/roms/GameBoy Color
filetypes=.bin|.elf|.mb|.dmg|.gbc|.cgb|.sgb|.zip|.7z
consolecoverid=nintendo
covercolor=fcff00
bannersound=GBC.ogg
arguments={device}:/{path}|{name}|{loader}

I really appreciate the help.

@regiplex well everything checks out. i'm curious what the extensions are of your gameboy roms. .zip? .gb?
also when you view your gameboy covers do a reload cache.
other than that i have no clue. maybe someone else with gameboy roms can confirm if they work with wfl and the vbagx-mod13.dol.

@regiplex , @fledge68

I swapped my current GB plugin to use vbagx-mod13.dol, and sure enough it always crashes; only when booting GB games. Very odd.

Fledge's more recently updated VBAGX plugin works fine when loading GB games, however.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/wiiflow-lite/files/plugins/

An easy way to fix your problem, would be to download the VBAGX zip from this page and extract the boot.dol; rename it to vbagx-mod13.dol (the exact dol name your current vbagx plugin ini files direct to) and replace your current vbagx-mod13.dol with the new vbagx-mod13.dol.

After this is done, all of your vbagx activity in WiiFlow Lite will utilize the more updated dol.

@Hakaisha So I clicked on that link and downloaded the vbagx_mod2.3.2_plugin.rar and extracted the .dol file which was already named "vbagx-mod13.dol". I swapped it for the one in my plugins directory, reloaded cache, and still crashing when trying to load Game Boy games.

Did I get the wrong file?

@regiplex , I sincerely apologize. I got my links mixed up and sent you an older one. It took me a while to find it, but here is the correct link:

Thank you so much! This worked perfectly!! I now have a complete working wiiflow setup.
My Next task is getting ScummVM to load through Wiiflow. Is this possible? I know from the big Abz pack it worked in the old Wiiflow. So far I've only gotten it to work via the regular wii menu.
Thanks again!
