Hi, I was just playing Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan (aka The Lost Levels) a game exclusive for the FDS in FCEUGX 3.3.9.

Everything was going smooth until I beat the game, but after the final screen the game crashed, after some little investigation I supposed that it has to do with the fact that it is the only place in the game where it is normally is supposed to save your progress (or more like save each time you beat the game, since it is necessary to access the bonus worlds), this since one of the main features of the FDS was the ability to save data for games.

My question is that if there is a emulator that fully supports FDS games and saving features, or if someone knows of other FDS games that work properly in FCEU and if maybe it is just this specific game the one causing issues.

Most of the big emulators (Nestopia-UE, Mesen, PuNES) all do FDS stuff just fine. I suspect you're running a hacked cartridge port of the game rather than the original famicom disk system disk image. What's the MD5?

Yeah, I figured that what I had was a port for the nes (since it was .nes).
Now that I use the original FDS game it doesnt freeze, but I found out that FCEU GX doesnt have save support for FDS games anyway, which its a shame

The only saving that Super Mario Bros. 2 does is the star count on the title screen, which goes up to 24. When you get 8 of them, you can access world A by holding the A button on the title screen and pressing start.
