Hacking Question about SXOS and emunand on fw 5.1.0

Hello, I have a question about sxos and its emunand. My switch is on 5.1.0, will it be possible to create the emunand, and then update the emunand to 6.2 without impacting the original 5.1 firmware? And by that I mean that I can remove the sd card, and boot again 5.1.0 (without having my efuses burned by 6.1 or similar).

Yes, this is one of the principle functions of emunand.

so what should be the steps for doing so?

1) create emunand from fw 5.1.0
2) boot into the emunand
3) update the emunand to 6.2 by going into the normal nintendo update process, and downloading it from their servers? (or there is a different way that I need to do the update itself?)

Yeah, pretty much what you said. You can update normally or if you want to be completely offline you can use ChoidojourNX.

Connecting to Nintendo servers while using EmuNAND is a super easy way to get banned. Far as i have read you can still get game updates and console updates while being banned. Which i find odd. Just create your emunand, load into it and update to whatever FW you want using ChoidojourNX. Updating in Emunand with an official update from ninty without using ChoidojourNX to protect your fuses honestly just seems like a recipe for disaster.

ok, so after creating the emunand, I load ChoidojourNX and can update to whatever fw I want, without burning fuses, right? and I don't need to enable autoRCM, fuses will still be good. Is that correct?

Yes. just make sure you are on emunand when you use ChoiDojourNX
