Nope, you should be fine but you also have to keep in mind that you will have to make new NAND backups every time you want to return to using CFW/homebrew since you cannot restore the same NAND more than once.
That wasn't a firmware problem, that was a hardware issue due to Nintendo not complying with USB standards on their USB ports and third-party companies expecting Nintendo to follow basic standards.
The power delivery is at least partially handled by software, so it could easily have been a problem in firmware. Especially given many people were using third party docks, but problems only started become much more common once 5.0.0 released.

I messed up and split all my NSPS with SplitNSP (which wasn't necessary I found out later because you don't need split nsps with usb install which I what i want to use) I thought it would still work with usb install but it doesn't tinfoil can't find the nsps split. Is there a way to rejoin the parts back?

I made an extracted NSP and can't install it. It's in a folder with a .nsp name and 00 and 01 files with no extension (how it was created) I put it in extracted folder. Tinfoil sees it but I get failed to install extracted nsp! OpenFileSystemWithId:101: Failed to open file system with id: @Sdcard://tinfoil/extracted/Yooka.nsp. Error code 0x00000202

The files look to be split correctly 4.00 gb and 1.37 gb.

you must have an old/pos microsd

My microsd card is fine. It's a sandisk 128 gb microsd. I only started having problems when I split my nsps which I wish I didn't do because i found out I could just install them as they are through usb. If I can put them back together I'd prefer that but don't know if that's possible.

@Draxzelex could you please help?

Did your Switch have exFAT support before you backed up the NAND? Because if not, you will be unable to load CFW as long as the SD card is exFAT.

Yea that popped up in my mind before i even came back to see the answer. I thought it had to do with it being exfat. I formatted to fat32 and reinstalled the sd files and all is good now. After that i used Choirdujor again to update to 6.1.0 and now it works this time(which again is so strange cause i did nothing different that last time lol)

But anyway thanks to my nand backup i was able to restore from a semi brick it seems so all is good. However as of right now i no longer have auto rcm. I gotten used to not having to use my jig everytime i want to turn it on but i can't find a tutorial on how to enable auto rcm on 6.1.0. Any help?

(Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your time!!!)

Just enable AutoRCM the same way you did it the first time.

Would I be able to copy all files and games off an exfat formatted sd card, format it to fat32 then copy them back? I mean, the games are installed to the sd card so they're on there somewhere. Would it work though?

I'm just asking before trying because it's like 90 gb worth.

new to switch hacking , done some 3ds hacking before so i been on the site for a while.. anyways i bought a switch for my son, the console is hackable and at a firmware of 6.0.1... never been hacked before... i also ordered the sx pro and should be getting it in about a week... my plan is to do a nand backup before anything, and then install the sx and use it offline with xcis only, then after a few months restore to start using it online... any recommendations ?? should i update 6.1 before installing sx ? this is going to be a christmas gift so i can even afford to wait until smash bros comes out and see if i need to update before doing any mods... reason for that is cuz thats my son favorite game... so what are the recommendations ??

Yeah I found the files that get installed after you install them to sd card in Nintendo > Contents > registered. They get split into 4 gb hah even with exfat.

So if someone wants to change from exfat to fat32 just copy the contents of your sd card to your computer, format it to fat32 and copy them back.

There's no harm in updating to 6.1 at all.

Any way to find rogue files from bad installs? It seems that a few bad usb installs through tinfoil is taking up space on my SD card. Cant delete from horizon because it just shows as a spinner with the '+' for settings option greyed out.

Is there a way to run homebrew on 6.1.0 without CFW? All I want to do is use PXHeX and thus need to access the savegame. I believe my consol works for the fusee gelee exploit. Thank you!

Yeah on your sd card Nintendo > contents > placehld. But they're just random folders with numbers. You can probably figure out which ones by the time though . I think you can delete them all anyway. You can even use NX-Shell to delete them without removing your sd card from your Switch.

I did check here.. but it's empty cause I think tinfoil registered those files to the bad install (the spinning icons that are displayed as unplayable games on my home screen).

Can't run homebrew without a cfw I believe. I think the simplest way would be to just rcm > payload a bootloader like hekate > launch a cfw like atmosphere from bootloader > use hbmenu to open PXHeX.

Ok, thank you. And with a CFW, are there any risks of getting banned and can it be uninstalled again?

CFW is temporary it only lasts until you power off your Switch. But I can't say if you run any homebrew there's no risk. I've read when you run any CFW it's recommended not to connect to wifi ever again if you're afraid of a ban because supposedly it can set a flag for Nintendo to ban you. But if you're not running any backup games it may be safer. Not 100% sure, but on the safe side I'd say not to if you're worried about a ban.

There's definitely a risk. If you really want avoid a ban you'd have backup your nand, stay completely offline then restore your clean nand when you want to go back online.

Oh, so if I run a CFW, edit my saves and then reboot my switch, it will be back to before as if I had never used a CFW?

I don't think you read my entire post. I said it goes back to you not having CFW but Nintendo can tell that you ran CFW. You're taking a risk of being banned. If you get banned you were warned.

Basically what he said ^ @petergrffin2018
The only way you can make it as if you never used CFW is if you backup your entire NAND before you use the CFW, stay offline while using the CFW, then restore the clean NAND backup. Nintendo has a lot of telemetry, logging, etc for detecting these kinds of things, especially on newer firmware.
