I have a switch on firmware 4.0 or something and have sxos installed. I just got Pikachu Let’s Go before I got on a bus home,and wanting to play it,put the cart in.

My sxos was in sleep mode and I could get into the himebrew through the photo album. When I booted up the game,it said it needed to update and I’m my haste I accepted. The system restarted and I am now on firmware 5 something. Can’t check if I can still boot into himebrew with my dongle as it’s at home.

Am I screwed? Is my switch now banned? I didn’t realise carts could update :(

There's no point being on firmware 4. Just update to latest firmware while on OFW. Don't update again when in CFW. You can update your games while on OFW too. Never go onilne with CFW. Got it?

I don't know, but there are a bunch of tutorials here to help you :) . However, just using carts/xci to update firmware seems to be the easiest, it just makes sense to do some research online before updating to check if FW on cart is supported by your CFW.

just update through OFW. Just remember to delete your wifi info afterwards so you don't mistakenly connect while your on CFW. I've been doing this method and I'm still not banned on 2 switches running sx-os with many nsp's installed.

Hi, can i ask a you a question? I have a switch on 5.1 with sxos and was thinking of updating through OFW. Do you remove your sd card when you do so? Does it make a difference? All my nsps are installed on the sd card. Thanks in advance for any advice and now worries if you're too busy to respond!

It’s safest to remove the sd card when doing anything in OFW. May I ask though, why are you updating?

I'm assuming that as new games come out they will require higher fw - I know at the moment we can use tinfoil to bypass that but that won't work forever, or maybe I'm wrong?

Hello guys I have a similar problem.I have a nintendo switch with Reinx and Firmware 4.1.I just bought it today and I want to know.Can I play NSP installed games that normally require a hier firmware for example pokemon lets go or Super smash brothers ultimate without updating?And if now wont my cfw be ruined if I update to the latest 6.2?

Anything that's under 6.2 is fine to be on. 5.1.0 seems to be the hot-spot rn, will likely change to a higher firmware in the future. For those wanting to utilise Atmosphere fully though with none of that AutoRCM stuff need to be on 3.X.X or below from what I've heard. Hopes of it on 4.1.0 were small, from what I remember.

Why would you want Atmosphere?From what I understand it is the only option that cant play pirated games.Am I wrong?

I'm not sure I can answer that. I'm on 5.1.0 and lack interest in the Atmosphere project as a whole, I got what I wanted when 'backups' became a thing. The possible advantages of being on those firmwares is likely, very very far off... Plus I wouldn't be surprised if at some point eventually another access point is found anyways it will probably just take years to be discovered or well, might never be.

I am gonna buy a hackable nintendo switch tomorrow at the price of 230 at version 4.1. Do you know if I will be able to play backups without getting banned?I dont want to go online with the console at all.I just want not to get banned so maybe some time in the distant future i can go online safely.Also you sayd yo got what you wanted when bacups became a thing so I assume you using reinx?

The first thing you should do is do a clean NAND backup. Then, if you want to avoid being banned simply DO NOT GO ONLINE. Whenever you DO want to go online, restore your backup and go online

My advice is have no active Wi-Fi connections, go in airplane mode, use Tinfoil to avoid updating firmware and well seek out the necessary files of course! I'm on 5.1.0 and just stay in aeroplane mode going online always runs the risk of a ban. 100% confident if I were to connect online right now I would likely instantly get banned. You just need RajNX, ReiNX or Hekate builds of atmosphere. Not much point for the majority having interest in anything being worked on for the Atmosphere OS as a whole right now, as far as I know.

Also 100% do that. I NAND backup will save your life. You can possibly update to a higher firmware too without burning fuses. Not sure how but there is a thread somewhere on how to do so though I don't think it's necessary... I think it was 5.X.X the Gamecube adapter support was added so I'm not sure if it works on 4.1.0, might do?

Also, as far as I'm aware you could make a NAND backup with non legit games saves, etc on it and restore between the two as long as they're on the same firmware. I've not tried it but like why wouldn't it be possible. That's if you actually wanted to go online but I really think it's either play it legit, or don't go online at all.
