Alright as the title says I'm new to this so I'm gonna ask. I got a switch and I'm pretty sure its an one of the original ones and here's some info about my switch before I start with my questions:

1. Serial # XAW1006XXXXXX
2. Firmware Version: 6.0.1
3. Memory: microSDXC UHS-I 128 GB (with adapter for PC plugin)
4. I also have the pre-made pin to ground the pins of the joy-con

So there goes my specs.. now question is, what can I do with it? can I have CFW for it? Homebrew? is the ReiNX thing possible for my device? Any help is appreciated.. and again If my post triggers someone/people then like I said.. I'm a newbie at this whole thing so pardon me for that...

  • Only Tutorials go in the Tutorials Section
  • Do not post your full serial number
  • Firmware is irrelevant when it comes to hacking the Switch currently but your serial number is unpatched so use any of the 3 available CFW to hack the console
SX OS: https://sx.xecuter.com/
ReiNX: https://reinx.guide/
Atmosphere: https://www.sdsetup.com/

Differences between the 3 are minor. SX OS has certain features behind a paywall but has its own cheat engine, similar to Gateway, as well as HDD support and "EmuNAND" but it is emulated from the NAND instead of the traditional SD card.

ReiNX and Atmosphere are extremely similar with ReiNX being easier to customize and use while Atmosphere is a bit more complex but shares the same functionality. One advantage ReiNX has over Atmosphere is support for .XCI installation via homebrew tools like ZeroTwoXCI, dOPUS, and n1dus. Atmosphere has plans to implement an EmuNAND solution that runs from the SD card in the future while SX OS does not.

Thanks mate I wasn't sure where to post for that matter and I edited my Serial # already. Seems like I'm prepped for ReiNX but SX OS interests me cause it has cheat engine to make it fun although I think I need to purchase the product?

I know the backup loading features are hidden behind the paywall but I don't know how much else is like the HDD support or cheat engine. There is an open-source cheat engine you can make use of with free CFW known as sys-netcheat.

  • You do not "install" ReiNX as it is temporarily loaded via the Fusee Gelee exploit aka its only active if you send the ReiNX payload to activate the ReiNX CFW
  • You can use any homebrew application that you can get your hands on, such as ones that modify save files or install .XCI/.NSP files, mod games/themes with LayeredFS (there's a tutorial on how to do so), etc.

Correct me if I’m wrong (I’m also new) but the latest atmosphere has some features regarding error reporting & blocking Nintendo to avoid bans that no one else has implemented yet ?

The others are all based on the previously unreleased parts of atmosphere with added patches, where atmosphere is the first completed / polished release from that team. (This is my understanding)

The only “missing” features with the newly released atmosphere would be,
1)XCI support (NSP Support is available)
2)Cheat engine
3)Artificial emuNand (full emuNand in the world from atmosphere)

3 has been debated, some believe that SXOS “fake” emuNand (which creates a new partition in the Nand location) is just as good as “real” emuNand (which leaves the stock Nand “clean” and hosts on the SD card. My interpretation is probably off a bit but that’s the gist of it from what I understand and I don’t know the true answer to “which is better”

That feature has been present in Atmosphere for a month now and was available for people if they used tomGER's SD files (or even RajNX). Known as creport, if you copy the folder (ends in 36) and move it to the same place as it was in /atmosphere but in /ReiNX instead, it should work with ReiNX as well meaning its not an Atmosphere exclusive. As for your other points...
  1. Don't know if anyone is going to even work on .XCI loading when we not only have .XCI to .NSP support but .XCI installation via ReiNX, which is enabled with a special patch. Unless someone really hates ReiNX but loves Atmosphere, not sure if this patch will get ported
  2. Cheat support was a Gateway exclusive as well but we do have sys-netcheat for non-SX OS CFW
  3. An EmuNAND that is on the SD card is objectively less detectable than one in the SysNAND. Although Nintendo may not be able to detect it currently, they can change that with a future firmware update

So I'm on 4.0 I'm only interested in a soft mod for free to play backups (that I own of course) and no jigs. Do i need to keep waiting for future releases

Wait... I did the Tegra method cause I saw there's 3 ways to do it. Also the sys-netcheat u showed me earlier, how does one install that? I mean like I mentioned I'm new at this so I don't know the terms..

Did you go to the thread and read the instructions? It gives you a link to visit with full instructions (I just linked the thread so you can see how other people are faring). I'm also going to warn you that I've never used sys-netcheat so I don't know how to use it, just that it exists.
