Wilbrand is an exploit replacement for letterbomb, not the hackmii installer. There's no (public) way around using the hackmii installer... unless u count ModMii's abstinence wizard which uses Casper to boot directly into a neek emulated NAND even on a virgin wii

Edit: wow, looks like I found a way to double post without being auto merged, muahahah

I haven't hacked a wii in a few years, came across your tasty program..

Q-
Does the failure to download the hackmii installer prevent the next steps of sd card and USB prep?

Simple: find it yourself, not differently than let's say a SNES game

But, if you already have cios and a wad manager, you don't need the hackmii installer - get a wad of the Open HBC and just install that:

I'm having trouble understanding wat I need to do if I post my file later would that help?

Anyone who's ever used ModMii to download the hackmii installer in the past would still have a copy of it in their modmii/temp folder.

If you were to place the same file modmii is looking for in the modmii/temp folder it will use it - assuming it passes the md5 hash check otherwise it will try to re-download it.

If I know the posts will be merged anyway then what's the big deal? Silly gbatemp and your rules ;)

Thanks man I really appreciate hearing that

I never used ModMii before to download hackmii installer but would it be in my sd card some other location ? Or do I need a updated modmii file? as I’m updated everything

I mean updated hackmii installer?

Simple: find it yourself, not differently than let's say a SNES game

But, if you already have cios and a wad manager, you don't need the hackmii installer - get a wad of the Open HBC and just install that: https://gbatemp.net/threads/v-wii-homebrew-channel-open-sourced.450288/page-4

  • Hacking your Wii

  • Installing The Homebrew Channel (HBC) and Bootmii

Note: if this Wii was previously modified, and it has either the HBC, BootMii as Boot2, or a Forwarder Channel installed, you can use that instead of an exploit.

If using BootMii as Boot2 to install the HBC, turn on your Wii with the SD Card inserted and BootMii will load. Go To the SD menu and load bootmini.elf. This will load the Hackmii Installer allowing you to reinstall the HBC.

If using a Forwarder Channel, just save the boot.elf/dol from the app you want to load (ie. SD:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf or SD:\apps\MMM\boot.dol) to the location used by your specific Forwarder Channel (ie. SD:\apps\usbloader\boot.dol). Then start the channel and the Hackmii Installer will load allowing you to reinstall the HBC. Note, if your forwarder channel only loads dol's and not elf's, launch MMM's boot.dol, then use its "App Manager" to load the Hackmii Installer.

HackMii.gif

This runs the Hackmii Installer. Use the installer to install the Homebrew Channel (HBC) and Bootmii as IOS and Bootmii as Boot2 (if possible).
Note: If you get a "no vulnerable IOS" error message, run ModMii again and this time select the "Hackmii Solutions" option and follow the new instructions before continuing this guide.

  • Making a NAND backup

NANDBackup.gif

While inside the Homebrew Channel, load BootMii by pressing home and clicking Launch Bootmii.
Press the power button on the Wii 3 times to get to the last option, then press the reset button (you can also navigate with a Gamecube controller).
Press reset to choose the first option, then follow the directions on the screen to make your NAND backup (bad blocks are no problem).
Backup the Bootmii folder, nand.bin, and keys.bin elsewhere and erase from the SD card (or rename it). You'll need these in case of emergencies, so don't lose them.
Go back to The Homebrew Channel.
Note: if Bootmii was installed as boot2, then it will show up as soon as the Wii is turned on AS LONG AS it finds the bootmii folder (mentioned above) on the root of the SD card.

do i skip these 2 steps if i softmodded before need help pls

U need to put the file in the modmii temp folder, if you installed it to a different location than Rob then it would not be the same specific location. The file needs to be named correctly for ModMii to pick it up.

Edit: for the sake of simplicity I suggest you do not skip steps. No harm in repeating them

Hello. I downloaded the latest ModMii v6.4.8 and ran the wizard to update my softmodded Wii and install additional apps. However, it's telling me 52 of 59 downloads failed. I notice that it's trying to download these files and gets an instant "404". Is this happening to anyone else right now?

I made a picture of the log here: image [dot] ibb [dot] co/jE2SgL/modmii-fails.png (new users can't post links apparently).

Patience. Stop using caps. I have 3 kids man if I don't have time perhaps someone else will but posting a million times in caps is just annoying.

Copy the contents of the COPY to SD folder onto you sd card. You should see a structure like sd:/apps etc.

If u have an error, you need to tell us what specifically went wrong and in what step. Think about what information we might need to help you solve your particular problem and try to offer it without having to be asked.

Edit: temp folder is intended to be for ModMii only, don't you worry about it
