So my 5 year old nephew was playing on my switch the other day and let it go dead while he was playing... As soon as I got home I thought ok get it a little charge, reload the payload, then I can get on to my BOTW.... After I let it charge for about 10 mins and I pressed the power button, imagine my surprise when Toads treasure hunt was still up and running?!?.?! I thought everytime the battery died you had to load a payload before you could get back into CFW. Thinking it may have been a fluke, I tried it again playing BOTW, battery went dead, put a charge on it and..... BAMMM! I was right back in it. Is this suppose to happen? Had anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks in advance for any comments.

I get about 3ish hrs on a full charge.. give or take. I understand @heyd_d, just like if you unplug a PC or an Xbox there is still power to the system momentarily, but this was an hour after it had went dead. I tried to power it down in mid game thinking, maybe there was something with my particular system firmware, settings or maybe the model of switch itself. Didn't work, had to reload payload. Just thought it was strange.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the console powers itself down while the battery still has some charge left
And at that..... Is this different than just the normal sleep mode that you can put the switch into or is this something that could possibly be tapped into to be able to get a hold (or like simi-cold) boot out of? I know very little about any of this biz, just got me thinking. Thanks for the comment.

Wow, does this mean we are getting permanent CFW now? How long is your play time from full charge till dead? This is interesting.
Think of the switch not running out of battery. It's just so low it won't allow you to use it. Think of it as the switch being in sleep mode except you can't unlock it, it's not completely dead yet so charging it up in this state doesn't restart the switch, but rather resumes

How long should this last though, I'd think after an hr it would be completely drained? Thanks for the comment!

this is normal. It doesn't fully power down. just goes into a deep sleep.
For how long though... Because thinking back I actually fell asleep playing Zelda, fell asleep woke up, got ready for work, went to work got home, then tried it after the battery had been dead..
I may run it out today and let it set a day or so before trying it just to see?

So just in case anyone else is wondering.... 22hrs! That's how long it took to go completely dead. Once it did die I did have to reload the payload to get back in. Thanks for all the input from everyone.
