Front-page Firmware 

3DS firmware 11.8.0-41 out, is actually stable and broke support for Luma3DS - fix now available

The 3DS is reaching its twilight years, with major first party releases slowing down. Updates to the system software are also becoming more and more uncommon. However, Nintendo sent out an update tonight, once more boasting about its beloved stability updates. This time, the claims were actually true, and the new update broke support with Luma3DS. Smealum, a major force in the scene is currently telling users to avoid updating at all costs, as doing so while having Luma will result in a "Failed to apply FIRM patch" error. For now, its recommended to stay below the new 11.8.0-41 update if your console is hacked, at least until there's a fix.

If you have knowledge with compiling files, you can apply the fix, but for the entry level user, it's advised you wait.

Lucky me, I hacked my SNES Classic like a week ago, and added some games that I wanted. Used Emu Paradise for most of my downloads.

This is happening to me but when I try to download the file it asks what application to open it with. I got my nintendo3ds from a friend and don't have any of the software on my computer. How can I open it, and how can I open the SD card on my 3ds to copy it to? and if I have to wait, until what?

oen it with 7zip or winrar i used winrar myself on zip files. its better to me. and then just take the boot.form and copy it and delete old one and paste.

waiting until they can fix up the luma usually. cuz the luma is the cfw the hacked side of the 3ds when its got all that stuff hun. you almost sound like someone i know on fb.

Mine is hacked and there is a fixed luma, I just don’t know how to download it to my 3ds. I have a microSD adapter for my MacBook Pro but when I try to download luma it asks what application I want to open it with. I don’t know what to open it with to download it on there

ok so my friend is dense and has a hard time understanding the ins and outs of cfw well she used >> https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=8TYkUv136KY << which is a spoofer her friend sent it to her thru fb. saying she'll not have to worry over updates on the 3ds again. well after a bit of doing she got to use the editor for acnl and imported her game back to get on the 3ds only to have it make the noise but nothing show.

What does that mean when it comes on and it makes the sound like it will load but it doesn't do anything?
It doesn't even want to power off. but she didnt do anything to it.
it lets her go on every icon and it makes the noise but will not load anything...

The video is full of false information, if you went through the forums for two minutes by the end of the first one you would know that it's safe to update and that recent changes are made server side. It's everywhere.

What he installed was most likely a system module. And he did so with FBI. Yikes.

Does your friend have a NAND backup? If yes, tell her to restore it (with the safe option). If she doesn't have one, she'll have to do a CTRTransfer.

But what about CIAngel's ability to download CIAs without installing? Couldn't you just continue to download with CIAngel and install with FBI? Or is the downloading of the CIA through CIAngel also dangerous?

anything that downloads games via nintendo's CDN servers without a valid ticket will no longer work
