If you're following payload injection tutorials, you should have seen a "Backup your NAND first" warning that you don't "forget".
Since backing up 40+ gigabytes of data can take an hour or 2, you were just lazy and couldn't wait to install your games, weren't you?

Some things never change :)

Seen it already back in the 360 jtag days, every tut had a fat disclaimer "backup your nand first!!!" but every forum was full with posts like "got a brick, no nandbackup, what to do".

Hacking a piece of electronic worth 300$ or more and not taking the time (even IF it takes several hours) to take precautions - i just don´t get it...

I’m a rebel.

I’ve modded every console I’ve ever owned and the only one I made a Nand backup of was the 3ds (and only for region changing).

If it dies, it dies.

If you’re careful with your equipment and don’t run untested software you will most likely never need it.

This was me. No joke.

- Backs up NAND

- They say to store it in a SAFE area on your PC

- Running low on space on PC hard drive and goes on a spree to delete junk.

- Finds out that the folder with the NAND backup was deleted while clearing crap.

20 minutes of my life I won't be getting back.

That's a wrong point. It dies every powercycle, u know.
Sometimes you have to reflash your backup in a brand new nand chip, because it tends to degrade, especially f**king eMMC.
Ask Samsung tech staff, how much FUBAR eMMC units they have to deal with, you'll be surprised.

See, that´s the difference you just mod your own consoles. The moment you´ve got a console from a friend your doing a favour in hands you think twice ;)

"If you’re careful with your equipment and don’t run untested software you will most likely never need it" - that may be right in theorie but when you need to write direct to the nand chip via jtag controller or smth like that there can and will happen errors you can´t influence.
