as long as there's a method to update the system even being banned this way, i'm ok
There always be the way. Otherwise new games on carts will be unplayable.
And unlike many US people believe big corporations does not own hardware you have bought and can't do whatever they want.

Even bullshit practice of online bans without explanations and appeals will soon be ended. At least in more sane parts of the world. See GDPR.

That's why i want to use freeshop over using tinfoil/devmenu.
I think you should wait for Free Shop version where you can use custom certs.

So does this mean no one can download eshop games, updates, and dlc anymore using CDNSP without the risk of getting banned.

I am noob regarding CDNSP, with TX SX OS v1.4 can't I install downloaded eshop .nsp games, updates, and DLC if I never go online?

I mean there are ways to update to latest firmware without burning eFuses.

Will this put a stop to downloading eshop games, updates, and DLC?

Does anyone here know how season pass dlc works? I have xbc2 season pass bought but lack the system update and title update to its latest content. Will i get banned if i use cdn to get those specific files? I should technically legally own all the dlc right?

corporations do not own your stuff.
that said the law is reactive. they do not sue for you so you have to sue.

all the uninformed people who know nothing about the law are also spreading false information. TOS/EULA/whatever do not allow them to do whatever they want you to you. what you buy is still yours.

that is why huge video game companies are now giving you "licenses" instead as license mean you only temporally own it and they can take it back whenever they want. nobody has sued over this yet so we don't know if this actually works.

that said, just because you use it to pirate, doesn't mean they can brick your console. the law does not allow companies & people to "hit back". just how like vigilantes are not allowed and often go to jail for causing serious injuries to people.

ofc online services such as multiplayer can get revoked if you cheat/hack but no court/law has said they can deprive you of updates so your devices become crippled yet.

Do you have to have cert to use CDNSP? If so, does that mean that person's Switch will eventually get banned?

Yes you need a cert to use CDNSP. Yes, that cert will eventually be banned. Don't use your OWN cert and you're fine

Nope, doing that or editing a legit cert would be the same thing as using a banned cert. A cert has to be valid to grant you access to the CDN server

Going forward then access to the eShop will no longer work for public certs as they will get banned, then the switch will get banned. I don't see people giving up their cert to do this in the future.

People HAVE given up their certs. Where do you think the certs floating around on the net came from? And your personal Switch wont get banned if you don't use your own cert

People have done this because they didn't think Nintendo would ban their Switch console from updates such as firmware updates. I understand you can update offline both games and firmware, but I wouldn't give up my cert.

I wouldn't either. But as long as there are certs floating around online you wont have to
