I dont really think it was ninty as the success rate of this brick is short lived.

I think he is planning to RMA through Amazon.
Perhaps he bought it recently.
In Europe if you buy something online and you want to return it, they are under the obligation to accept the return no questions asked for the first two weeks.

Now, the Nintendo way of RMA would perhaps be hard, very hard.

In Germany, Amazon replaces anything within the two years of warranty (retailer's warranty that is, not nintendo's warranty of one year). You have to sell it to them "correctly" of course, maybe saying that you messed with it and broke it is not the right way... but they'll refund it, no questions asked. It's Amazon. The stuff gets destroyed anyway.

The lesson learnt here, is that if you do not know what you're doing. Get someone else to help, but more importantly...

Some group (possibly one kid) who said that they got every file type running on ~~pretty much every somewhat-modern console~~ 4 or more main consoles.
They even claimed it ran on Project Scorpio (Xbox One X), before it had a name.

We know most people, I'd even say nearly every single person that bought SX OS are illegaly downloading games online or from Nintendo's CDN.
People that pirate games are likely to do so because they want to save money, just like people that are looking for a cracked SX OS.
I wish we could find a solution for them because yes I would be very VERY pissed if my Switch got bricked this way. Maybe you should consider to stop being hypocrites and feel empathy for others instead of hating on them because they tried to get something YOU bought to get free games, for free.

No, they did not deserve shit done to their consoles... Trolls were posting images saying that it worked, which ironically made more people believe it worked... I forgot to screenshot the photo, but it was a pic of some guy doing a thumb up and many people was saying "Wow, it worked" "Thank you!" and other messages following on...

Agreed, I bet most of them are adults or young adults that actually work and earning money. In the end, they have no rights to judge, so people may be poor and can't afford it, to add to this, the switches they received could've been gifts or one of treats because their family, friend or whatever managed to get enough money to buy it.

yea but the end user then thinks, wow sx lets me play games for free and now its cracked so i dont even have to pay for that too.... BONUS.

the person who posted it would have knew people would blindly rush into this because everyone wants everything for nothing.

and it thanks to these people being cheap skates, they have now bricked their console, maybe they should support sx and pay for their product or support game devs and buy their games.,.. now its funny because they have to buy a new console.

You can get a full replacement of the emmc board on alliexpress, idk if you need a rawnand.bin to change it out tho. Does anyone know ?

I just read on reddit that they already tried this at the beginning (they wanted to upgrade the emmc with a bigger one), if you just switch out the emmc with a new one the switch refuses to boot (obviously) so you would still need a nandbackup...

Okay, so not many people are aware of what this payload actually does.
It does not replace your entire nand with garbage (that would be a huge waste of time) it just overwrites your gpt and part of your PRODINFO. Due to the fact that your PRODINFO is console specific, there is no way to recover without a NAND backup.

If anyone wants to check to be sure, the source for this payload is at
https://gitlab.com/iAmOG/PozzNX
It is a modified gptrestore with three multipliers, making it restore the gpt further into the nand then it is supposed to, all the way to your PRODINFO which causes an unrecoverable brick (Without a NAND backup.)
If you have a NAND backup, you can use real gptrestore and hekate to fix your switch by restoring said NAND backup. Everyone else affected by this... You're screwed.
