I know it does, I've seen the way to dump and patch kernels for 4.X but PRAGMA hasn't updated his thread to stating support firmwares 4.X and 5.X, it still says 5.X only. That's why I wasn't sure if his files included the proper tools to boot LayeredFS on 4.1.
In terms of warmboot softmods, there is none as 2.3 and 3.0 will have access to the same exploit at the same time. Updating to 3.0 will require a game cartridge, either a physical one or a scene dump that will not be provided here for obvious reasons.
As long as the posts here are all properly answered on a timely basis, that means one less thread for every question which makes GBATemp look less cluttered and more organized. That's the only satisfaction I need. Also, yes backup your NAND. That step should always be the first step whenever playing around with hacks. Better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks!

First I will state that I don't care about online features or pirated games (well new ones anyway, I guess PacMan is pirated if I don't own the arcade) but do you think the Switch will eventually be a good emulator system? By this I mean easy to just turn on and use (no messing with phone connections, paperclips etc). I know me and If I had to connect to a phone and mess around with downloading hacks to it everytime to get homebrew I wouldn't bother, too much hassle. I have one but it is 4.1, will that one ever be completely broken like Henkaku on Vita?

Also how good will the emulators be? Is there good enough documentation/libraries where things can be optimised to the point of running say up to N64 full speed with sound, maybe even Dreamcast?

When hekate was first released on 4.1.0 i used it to update to 5.0.2 did my efuse burn ?
Now i'm on 5.1.0 and from 5.0.2 to 5.1.0 doesn't burn any efuse
But did it burn from 4 to 5 with hekate?

Unreleased warmboot exploits are available for up to 4.1, so from 1.0-4.1, an easy, jigless homebrew method will most likely be made available. For 5.x.x though, no one knows. You said you have 4.1 tho, so if you keep it on that firmware, you should be good eventually.
can you update games without being in the latest firmware?
Not that I'm aware of

Use ctcaer's hekate mod. https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/releases/tag/v2.3

Yes, unless you followed the guide for updating without burning fuses

Correct, from 4.X to 5.X, 1 fuse is burned
From 5.0.X to 5.1, no fuses are burned

I do have a couple questions about the Pro SX, that just arrived today.

Do I just put my games on the root of my SD card in .xci format?
What about my save games from my original carts, will they be used with the Pro SX?

Thanks

Question: If I dump my own backups from cartridges can I play online with the backups?

You could possibly get banned from online and eShop if detected.

I'm not sure about saves, but yes, just put the games on the root of the SD card. You can try to use checkpoint or something for your saves

About the saves: I dumped my copy of zelda and was able to use my preexisting saves without any issues

About the backups online: Oh ok thanks man

for SX PRO and 200GB microSD: How should I format the microSD? FAT32 or EXFAT? And is there a tool to format the SD correctly? I heard that formatting using the switch and Mac will cause problems! So, is there a good tool for windows maybe? thanks in advance!
