So now that homebrew is achieved, is it possible to force games to always render as if it's in docked mode to unlock the full hardware power? many games such as Xenoblade 2 render at sub 500p handheld and 720P docked which would be perfect on the switch screen when playing with a charger plugged in. any thoughts?

Ok, so the switch is constantly being told it’s docked by the dock itself, right? well, what you could do is use something like an Arietta to send whatever signal it needs, and stick it inside a battery case. This would only work if you could use cfw to keep the screen on.

The battery is going to be fine, it's not like this has never been done before, Tegra tablets run at even higher speed than a docked switch and it's always portable.

You... You really said that... Oh my lordy you're not all there...

Enjoy burning your fingers and instant crashes/shutdowns. Overclocking has been tried in Linux, and it resulted in more crashes.
Umm what are you talking about? The system might get slightly hotter yes or at least as much as the additional 1.3v would add, which is about 30 more power overall that's required to up the GPU from 384MHz to 768MHz , CPU will stay the same. This is not an overclock it's just the docked mode clocks. Certainly shouldn't make the system crash in any way since it's not above the normal specs.

You will kill your switch. Your battery can't give enough power to the SoC.

plug in the adapter...

only if someone made a better custom backplate with a sturdy spine and added more air flow vents to lessen overheating while ac adapter plugged in

Horizon OS propably adjusts the SoC clocks based if it's docked or not. Games on the other hand propably can't say whether its docked or not so it is checking for cpu clocks. If it 700MHz then docked, 200MHz then undocked. Propably forcing the cpu clock would trigger dock mode. If you use a powerful charger that has similar voltage to dock it might trigger docked mode too.

Switch power consumption is 12W docked and 9W undocked. So it's already using lots of juice.

Wouldn't it get scorching HOT? More than usual? But all in all, it's sounds like a good idea.

Switch is only 5°C hotter while docked. Of course it is already hot when undocked so extra 5°C would certainly be noticeable.

but you have your hands on the joy cons and not the system itself. your also not keeping it encased in plastic on 2 sides so it could possibly vent a tad better
