I know I'm way ahead, but do you plan a bug/spelling error report system once the patch is released?
I don't know if posting here will be easy to fix all reports, they might be missed.
Also, not all players (will) have an account on GBAtemp, and having a place to report without having to register to the forum might be ideal. (not that we don't want new users :P)

I guess my thought was that this would be a decent enough place for people to let us know things that have gone wrong, but if that doesn't work well enough we'll come up with something else.

Personally, I think this place is good enough. While email is another option, the chances are that people will report the exact same errors multiple times. Perhaps have another page for errors, so that people don't report the same error?

Sure - we are still trying to track down how/when we broke the game for flashcarts, as that stopped working in the last month or two and we didn't notice until recently. And we're also now into the "well, if we have to wait for that fix aaaaanyway" level of nitpicky bug fixes. :)

Lots of good things going on, it will be a better patch release because of this flashcart delay. So, really we all are lucky it happened! (>_<)

I wish the DS emulators and n64 emulators were more accurate so stuff like this never happens.
Actually, all emulators that we have tried work perfectly. It is flashcarts, where you run the ROM on actual DS/3DS hardware that is having the problem.

It *used* to work on flashcarts, but while tracking down a fix for something else I think we accidentally nuked the thing that was keeping it running on flashcarts. *shrug* The tech team is working on it, and as mentioned in the mean time we are able to get some other things fixed up. It's oddly a win-win for there to be a delay at this point. Even though I've been on this project for ~3 years, and we finished the entire translation in early 2017, there are still little things that we can make better since we have the time anyway. :)

I use flashcart, since that's kind of the point -- portable-ness. If I sat in front of computer to play games, I would play others, like PS2 and such.

I have done quite a lot of playtesting of this game using an emulator on my phone, and I have briefly tested two other emulators. A phone is also very portable. :)

Not all emulators are on computers (well, unless you call your phone a computer, which to be honest is not really that much of a stretch of the imagination these days). I have a bluetooth controller (8bitdo's SN30 pro, which I highly recommend for a retro feel) that I pair with my phone, and then I can play it almost as easily as I could play on a DS with a flash cart - I just need to find a surface to put my phone down on. It means I can playtest on my lunch break at work and I only have to carry the controller extra, not my entire DS. That said, the screen is bigger on a DS if you have the XL sized ones.

*shrug*

Anyway, we're still working away on the game. I've got a list of typos to fix - things that playtesters have recently found. Plus, I'm working on pulling together a list of everyone that has worked on the game to use as a credits list for the fan translation. And, we haven't found the cause of the flashcart problem yet.

Progress, for sure. Thanks for reading, folks!

I'm not very adept at coding - or anything in that line really - but I'm a fairly decent editor, just in case you or your team ever has content that needs to be checked.

Are we giving up support for flash cards altogether?
Hard no, bud. We just broke it sometime in the past month or two and are having fun times tracking down which change is the culprit.

It worked on most flashcards without any major problems for as long as I've been on the project. I playtested the crap out of the game last year and previous years on my R4 and my original DS Lite to make sure our font choices were still legible at that screen size.

We won't ship until we fix this, but I was mentioning that since this is forcing us to wait while the fix is being figured out, it means we are able to add more polish while we wait. :)

I hope that helps clarify. Sorry for being ambiguous about the plan in previous posts.

If you guys are using Git to do source code control, they have a nifty tool called Git Bisect. The idea is that you find a commit that works, and a commit that doesn't and do binary search between them (split sorted list in half until you find your item) to find the cause.

I just asked, and our tech folks know about that one. :)

Sounds like the problem is a lot was changed in a small number of commits, so even knowing which commit changed, it takes time to back out each small change from that commit and re-test. Oh, and the people that do the builds don't have access to flashcarts, so... we're doing a bit of back and forth on things.

Anyway, TRUST ME... you will LOVE what we've managed to accomplish with this extra time! :D

I have no idea how I've found myself into this oddly specific forum, but first off I'm amazed at this community's hard work to translate this game, and secondly how do I play the patched game? Or where do i get it, because I haven't seen any download links for the patch or rom itself...

First of all the patch for the game has not been released yet. Secondly it is against site rules to ask for or to post links to roms. The game in question can easily be found on the internet anyway.

Once the patch is out you can play it on any ds emulator or on a physical ds using a flash cart.
