We were hoping an official release would be out by now, but we're still waiting.
We need the TX tool or Atmosphere to come out, so that we have far more people with hacked consoles. Then we might see more people working on making this happen.
Except that there are still people who are waiting and have Hekate-exploited Switches on 4.x/5.x... (myself included)
Still, even if RetroArch was planned to be recompiled today, I think it would be a difficult process.

All the more reason for people to wait, why port an emulator to a console that can only be used by a handful of users?

Experimental testing?
Attempting to run other consoles on 4.x/5.x that are as of now impossible without other ported emulators? (e.g. NES, SNES, Jaguar, Lynx)
Just for fun?

I don't really know, those are the only suggestions I have in mind.

It doesn't matter how many people are waiting. The point is, the more people in the future have hacked consoles, the more people we'll have working on it. For all we know there are people out there who're willing and able to port it for us right now, but don't have a hacked Switch to test and make it happen.

They should wait till porting over more cores is easier once the Switch is blown open.

Then what do you suggest?

Guys on 4.x-5.x!
Take a look at this one. Perhaps this Retroarch port will be obsolete pretty soon :D
That one is unrelated.
This is RetroArch for the Switch through Horizon OS (Switch's native OS).
That one's Lakka, which runs through Linux.

That's basically RetroArch running on Linux, which is a completely different project altogether.

Yep, for once this happens ... we are legion... for we are many.

No but with all kidding aside, once the breach is more public and widespread things will progress at an even faster pace then it is going now.

To all ; Just give it some time. And by all means ... don't pressure the guys behind Atmosphere, be grateful for what they are doing for us all.

Well, what do you expect? most users can't even install homebrew without using a hardmod.

Now more seriously. At least they try, they show interest in doing it. But there's way too many people used to have everything done for them. Right now, even if they don't manage to do it properly, they are curious about it. It's the first step towards learning. The problem is when they demand things being done for them.
