Hey all.

Simple question.

I have a 3.0.1 Switch. Retail Mario Kart cart. I dont have any wifi info inserted (used to) as to make sure it doesnt update.

Whenever I launch Mario Kart, it nags for an update. I can skip it and proceed but wondering if there is a way to remove the nag? Is a day one patch lookup built into the cart?

Thanks!

Yes. Reboot your Switch into maintenance mode:

Turn off the device with the power button.
Reboot the device while holding down the - and + volume buttons at the same time.
Wait a few seconds once the maintenance menu pops up, then reboot the device again to clear the update data.

Awesome will do when I get home! What does that mean? It downloaded a system update or a game update and its waiting to be applied?

Thanks!

Ok so tried that... same thing :(

I booted into maintenance mode, shut it down, restarted, and same thing. Go to launch MK and get the "a software update is available" but I can hit "start software"

Not sure if the software update relates to the game or if its a system update... Any ideas anyone?

Does it nag you also when launching other software titles?

Hmm, why does it require fw above 3.0.1?
Is retail version different from bundle?

It doesn't require it because I can just hit the "start software" button and it plays just fine. Im just wondering how to remove the nag. Is it a game update that downloaded already and just needs to be applied?? I don't want to say update in fear of it applying a sys update.....

AFAIK the system gets a list of available software updates when it's connected, if you clicked on update it would probably just tell you to connect to the internet. If the update was downloaded it would have already been applied, but it won't download software updates as long as you're on outdated firmware.
I don't think there's a way to get rid of the nag, that list isn't even cleared by formatting the system.

Seems like mario kart has 2 revisions of cartridges. The 0000 version works on your actual fw. The 0001 version needs a fw higher than 4.0.1. Just google for firmware games switch. Somewhere on gbatemp is a list

Yeah no interest in playing online, I just want to know how to rid the nag. And if the nag is about firmware or a game update. I have 3.0.1 and I can just hit start software so im sure its the older revision cart, but I am just afraid an inlaw would accidentally hit update and it would block me unless I connected online.

nvm you already tested what I wrote

but I can tell ya that if its a system update you wont be able to see your actual firmware in the system settings, cause it uses the same line as the notification about a new system update. "system update ready" instead of "4.1 in my case

You can put in the blocker DNS and still update physical games. But you can't play online.

Are you talking the pegaswitch DNS ?

Just to be clear...

I have one switch on 4.10, have physical carts of both MK and Zelda both nagging for updates, by entering this DNS I can update the games without updating the system ?

It was letting me update yesterdat, today it tells me I need a firmware update. No idea what changed, but I updated Zelda, Odyssey, and ARMS without an issue. Today it gives me the message.

Geeze.... what an annoyance. Is seems like it somehow detected that there was a game update, but wont let me just get rid of the nag.
