What OTG adapter are you using? Did you install the kernel for the mini? Are you powering the adapter?

I have 2 different otg adapters. One with the wires, and one with just the block. They both detect the flash drive, and can see the files/folders when testing with my s7. I am powering everything with a power strip with usb. I did install the custom kernel, and can add roms/folders to the mini itself. I set usb host, save settings, plug everything in, and get just the original 30 games like it was when I got it. I'm stumped. I know it has to be something simple i'm overlooking.

Do either of your adapters have a switch you can change?

I really think it's either your OTG adapter or USB stick. Unfortunately, the USB mod is not all inclusive. Some adapters work, some don't. It's been said that those that come with phones don't work at all. It's also hit and miss with USB drives. A drive that works fine on your PC or phone may not work on the mini. Do you have multiple drives you can test? Try by just adding 1 game. I'd even choose one that has been known to work flawlessly. I also wouldn't load any cores yet. Just pick a SNES game and run it from canoe. Test all your USB drives. If none of them work, try getting suggestions for what other brands people are using with multiple success stories. I've heard of some having a drive work fine initially and then stop working. If you get the working drive and it still doesn't work, it's your adapter. Again, get suggestions for the adapter people are using.

I pay a lot of attention to everything going on here, but with the state of the USB, it's not at a point I want to spend that much time with. When it has better support for adapters and drives, then maybe.

Okay. I got Lunar Lander and Rampage to work...sort of. Rampage still won't allow me to choose the white wolf man and will only let me pick the green lizard man if I plug in a controller to the second port. Lunar Lander.....this game is starting to make me want to punch some stuff. The game will start. I add credits. But when I hit start to begin the game, a mame menu pops up where you can change stuff like vector flicker and discrete sound, etc. I think I mentioned this before. Without an R2 button, I can't access the menu to shut it off. I guess I'm out of luck until I can get my hands on a Wii classic controller....

The only other really big problem is Ninja Baseball Batman. The sound is all messed up. The game it's self seems to play just fine, but when there is a transition, for example, when a new graphic shows up between levels, it gets EXTREMELY slow and the sound gets even weirder. Hey...I'm just glad that I can get the game to play at all. Running the newest version of mame 2003, if that helps.

Been using external hdd for a while and just tried the usb stick last night.

Does your USB stick runs hot even if not used while plugged in a long time?

Big changes today:) NEO Changes are merged into the RetroArch in my Core Set. Standard RetroArch can be gotten from 'TheOtherGuys' Github. Xtreme RetroArch, which contains my own Experimental Core Optimizations, will be in my set:) The video covers Xtreme RetroArch and the Add-Ons:) NEO Changes for the better include Loading Screens, Cache and Memory Clearing, CRT Filter for both NESC/SNESC, without any additional HMOD installation!, amongst other incredibly awesome changes:) Things will be very bright for the Future of the NESC/SNESC Modding Scene! As always, feedback is much appreciated! Definitely inform me of anything you would love to see added, and I will look into it! This release also has Updated 4DO, FBA 2016, NP2Kai, SNES9x2016, PPSSPP Core with NEO Changes (hakchi/saves on USB, and back-up your PSP saves, and you can use them fine with NEO:). Expect for next Update, more along lines of Codes and Samples, etc! Don't forget to check out ComCom's Amazing Options Menu HMOD for RetroArch, linked to above! Enjoy this tremendous Update!!!

SNES Classic - NEO Merged + MAME 2010 Performance Upgrade & Xtreme RetroArch Overview

And, of course, the Update:)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

KMFD, I just watched your video about mame 2003 games that you can't control properly. You hit R2 to bring up the mame menu...but you can't DO that in mame 2003.

Yes you can do that in MAME 2003:)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Okay. Pretty good update for me. I got Rampage and Gauntlet working...finally. I just can't seem to get Lunar Lander to work. The game will start just fine. I hit select to add credits to play, but as soon as I hit start to begin the game, the little mame menu pops up with options like, I said, vector flicker, discrete sound, etc. I supposed I could try the mame 2000 version of Lunar Lander again, seeing as I get the newest version of mame 2000...but not today. Lunar Lander isn't that big of a game for me. I'm sure I'll get around to it.

Thanks for reminding me about Lunar Lander. I will make sure to look into it for Next Release. It was a fun game to play on PS4 Atari Flashback Collection!

What do you guys think of these controllers? I found these on our local game store.

Nyko Super MiniBoss Wireless Controller - Super NES
Hori Fighting Commander Wireless SNES Controller
Mini NES Gamepad Pro Wireless Controller (My Arcade)

Or can you recommend me a good one that I can buy from Amazon?

I don't know about the quality of the Nyko SNES controller, but I do have their version of the controller for the nes classic. It's really good. The d pad is nice and tight...which comes in handy for games like Contra. In this context, it controls a lot better than the controller that comes with the system.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I really wish I could choose characters in Rampage without having to have a second controller be plugged in....but I'm just happy that the game will play. As it it, you can only choose first or second player...the brown ape and the green lizard man.

The biggest problem I have is I can't play Lunar Lander because there is no way to get rid of the mame menu that pops up.

Has anyone managed to connect an official wireless controller to the snes via the usb lead used to charge I connect it and retroarch recognised it as a Sony PlayStation controller and says its configured but the controller doesn't work and blocks my official snes controller working however as soon as I disconnect the ps4 controller the snes controller works.i have even used ftp to go in and delete the Sony .cfg controller stuff so I would have to manually configure still with no joy any help would be appreciated

Have the Nyko, like the Nyko. I'm not a competitive fighting gamer, but for general use it works well.

I've read disconnection issues with My Arcade controllers. Does it happen often with Nyko?

Though I kinda wanted more buttons for playstation games like the Wii classic controller.

I've had some disconnection/range issues with the Nyko NES controllers, but never with the SNES controllers, ironically.

That's good I may consider Nyko snes later though I may miss some PS1 games with lack of buttons.

I will as well try the 8bitdo receiver + PS4 controller as it looks like a great combo but not sure if there will be some issue.

Is extreme Retroarch 171 obligated to give the Retroarch loading screen?

That is annoying.
I think that's one of its best little bonus features lets you know everything is working instead isn't he normal black screen. Load times are the same with or with out it. Only issue I have is can't save video settings to 16:9 always reverts back to default 4:3 but am sure that will be resolved in an up and coming update. Maybe even add a toggle setting to turn on/off the loading screen
