Hi!!
A couple of a months ago i bought a component to HDMI converter cause the TV i use to playing games only have RCA and HDMI inputs. I use this converter with my Wii and works perfectly fine. The problem is that it won’t do the same with my PS2. I tried different HDMI and component cables, it just won’t work. I remember that when i tried to use this converter with my Wii for the first time it was not working too until i pluged my Wii to another TV (through component cable) and changed the "TV Resolution" option to "EDTV or HDMI (480p)" After that i never had another problem. On my PS2 i already changed "RGB" to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr", but no luck either. Any thoughts?

Thank you guys!

Are you sure the TV didn't come with a dongle to plug the component cables into? Many TVs do this nowadays.
You may have better luck with a component to VGA adapter if your TV has a VGA input. It's not 100% the same signal so it might not work, but from what I hear many TVs support this as an undocumented feature.

Maybe the TV doesn't support 240p over HDMI and that's what the game requests? (Note that not too many games respect the system's setting)
Maybe the converter doesn't? (Wouldn't surprise me with those cheapos probably intended for a single resolution/frequency)

Good news! Not solved yet but posting to keep you guys updated.

Got this thing working by booting GS Mode Selector at startup, selecting 480p mode and exiting to OPL. Two cons here: no signal on ps2 menu, and every time i power on my PS2 i'll have to wait to GSM to autoboot them press the buttons to boot OPL forced with 480p, blindly. I know it's' not ideal but if it works that's fine by me.

Now i'm facing a problem with the size of the screen. I can't get OPL, or any game, to fill the whole screen. I tried 480p, 720p and even 1080p, no luck. I have yet to try other modes and some widescreen cheats but i just didn't have the time yet.

Not sure if I can help with the hdmi convertor problem but GSM in like 90% of cases won't fill the screen properly if the base and output resolution differ. It takes the native resolution of whatever you're playing and stretches it to fit an integer scale of whatever resolution you output to. For example, if you have a game that's 512 x 448 and you set the game to 1080i it scales it as far at it can and then just ignores the rest leaving you with 1536 x 896 which gives you a locked but decent 1.7:1 aspect ratio. 1080p however seems to cut the vertical resolution in half in most games so it's mostly useless you want an ultra-widescreen aspect ratio.
