So in my attempts to replace the shell casing for my Switch, I stripped three screws and lost one of them. Let me tell you, I don't know where I went wrong in this situation (actually I do, I was using an incorrect bit), but I screwed it up pretty bad (no pun intended).

In any case, I'm going to need a set of screws to replace them with. I found this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Ninten...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Has anyone used this set, or does anyone have a set that they can recommend? Also, besides using a rubberband, how would you go about removing stripped screws? I've heard the superglue and (god forbid) the soldering iron method. Any other ways?

You should use a precision screwdriver set like the ifixit screwdriver kit, that would do a proper job instead of stripping the screws.

Soooo, I actually was using an ifixit screwdriver set. I just wasn't using the proper bit head. I had one that "fit", but it wasn't "snug" if that makes any sense. It was a step up from what I actually needed.

The thing here is the screws you stripped still in the tablet or it is out, it will be problem if it still in the tablet and loose.

Had the same problem replacing my shell as well, but it was 1 triangle screw on the back of the switch that gave me hell. I bought my kit from the same Ebay store you linked but it came with 2 screwdrivers, tweezer, and and a bunch of screws silver/black.
Anyway I had to break off the original backplate since that 1 stripped screw kept it intact. I used a scissor hard twist and turn the damn thing out.

The clear shell replacement sucked anyways.

I was actually a little disappointed when I got the shell in hand. It wasn't smokey like they claimed and there were scratches all over the places. Not to mention the plastic box they sent me was shit. Kinda like those weird flimsy plastic boxes pens come in if you buy them at gas stations. I forced myself to hold my reservations until I got it installed though. What did you not like about them?

The screws are still inside the tablet, but they aren't loose. I haven't attempted to use any of the methods to remove stripped heads yet. I'm gonna try the rubberband method first then go from there.

I hope it doesn't come to that. Are there replacement OEM back shells we can purchase online?

Everything you wrote. I got the d-pad version and while I thought that would be great....IT SUCKED. My own custom made SHITTY LOOKING d-pad feels better. I took a furniture felt stopper and cut a d-pad out of that to fit the buttons and I cut off the top soft layer. The bottom half is much harder. Then I fit a layer of gorillatape on top of that again and the whole thing sticks to the four buttons making it an actual working d-pad. It is BUTT-UGLY but it's the only way for me to enjoy puyo puyo tetris in handheld mode and it is the ONLY game I use it for. I thought I would skip platformers because of the lack of a d-pad on the joycon but I had a blast and no problems playing through Steamworld Dig 2. uglyswitch.jpg

If you get desperate to remove them, gently drive a bit into the screw head with a hammer. GENTLY as to not kill the screen but firmly as to get it into the head. A stripped screw head will be soft enough for a small flathead bit to be forecefully driven into it, and from there you just remove the screw as normal.

Make sure you don't break anything.

If it comes to this, I'll use the solder method and just join the screw to the screw bit and twist it out that way.

Original backplate replacement just incase yours get badly scratched or broken https://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacemen...116940?hash=item212afc948c:g:8U0AAOSwbn5ZdYy2

Did not know you could use solder like that, noting this for myself.
I lost my soldering iron a long time ago, this would've been nice to know ._.

Don't kick yourself about it, I didn't know either. I learned about it watching a vid on YouTube that outlined different methods that could be used. Pretty crafty if you ask me.
