A few days ago, i went about fixing mine and my friend's joycon drift by replacing the sticks in both sets of our controllers and everything was going swimmingly until i got up to the last joycon (my left one).

I stripped the screw, badly. I tried the rubber band method and the 'superglue another screwdriver into the screw' method to no avail, i was using a good quality y tip screwdriver and every single screw came out like a treat. But of course, the very last screw i get to doesn't want to come out..

I dont own a drill and spending money on a 2mm bit just for removing one teeny screw seems like a bit of overkill; that being said though, i'd be happy to replace the back shell with a new one- if i could somehow rip the old backplate off?

TLDR I stripped my screw very badly, want to see if i can rip the backplate off to remove the screw and replace it.

Any help would be so appreciated!

If you own a dremel tool you can cut into the screw and make a notch, or just cut around the screw completely if you're going to replace the back, but I imagine if you don't have access to a drill that there's a good chance you don't have access to a dremel either. Drill is best since you can save the back plate though

Do the stupid and risky way: Use some cheap soldering iron and melt the plastic area of the stripped screw, I can't recommend this since you might damage mandatory parts in the Joy-Con controller (which I've got lucky with) and you had to replace the shell with a new one.

I don't recommend this though, I just had to do it since I was out of options from that time.
