My biggest gripes with YT are:

1. The ads. I am fine with them putting up ads but at least allow us to skip them all the time! I mean i hate being forced to watch ads especially during a video.
2. The whole demonetising B.S

I think if YT continue the way they are, people will probably jump ship but i dont ever see that happening until YT has a good enough competition

It's been dying, though. It doesn't run a profit, ever. YouTube only ever loses money. However, despite it's tendency to hemorrhage money, Google/Alphabet keep it around, because of just how impactful it is. There's nothing like it on the internet. The way they're run is horrible, though, and despite the impossibility of it, I hope something else comes along to compete with it. Twitch already sort of draws people away, but it's not enough. Content creators and viewers both get screwed by the censorship/demonitizing/etc from Google, which is the most irksome part.

Bingo. Problem is there are now a ton of alternatives to Youtube, and even if some of them are better than Youtube, none of them quite have the presence that Youtube has simply because they weren't there first. As such, it seems to me that no single competitor to Youtube will ever be able to truly rise above the rest and become the platform that most youtube users decide to jump ship to.

I think we can all blame the WSJ. YouTube was dying at a relatively slow pace, but ever since that fucking report by the WSJ, content creators haven't been anything but royally fucked in the ass by YouTube's new "kid-friendly" rules.

Jesus Christ. I don't wanna get started.

If there is no money in the pot to pay out with then where do they expect to get big money?!
