1. Copy the games folder to games_copy
2. Delete all games from hakchi2
3. Readd all games to hakchi2 and close it
4. Open Powershell an delete all *.sfc or *.md and so on from games_copy:
example for SNES: del /games_copy/*/*.sfc
5. Copy all folders from games_copy to games (replace all)
6. Open hakchi2, go through the list and add in every command line at the end .7z
7. Upload your games

This is how I persevered my cover arts and the release dates that I added manually.
If you don't care about cover arts and the dates just delete and readd the games.

You only need to do it onetime but you can save up to 50% of the space.

Could you not just use Total Commander to find all of the .nes and .fds games, select and pack the necessary files as .7z, then remove the original files (.nes/.fds)?

On a related note, which NES ROMs can be archived? Just the .nes and .fds ones running from retroarch?

I imagine that this has been covered on here somewhere.

I'd only been installing NES and SNES games but had a go with my first Master System & Mega Drive games today but I'm getting some pretty bad overscan for both systems using PicoDrive. Is there any way around this?
I've never tested out PicoDrive for anything that wasn't 32X. What's wrong with using Genesis Plus GX?

Speaking of PicoDrive, I still can't get NBA Jam TE to work properly. That just encouraged me to use the arcade version instead.

Thanks for that.

I read on here somewhere that PicoDrive was the way to go with this? After reading that I haven't actually tried Genesis Plux GX, I'll give it a go later.

Anyone here use the Zelda Randomizer? I created 50 randomized ROMs and put them in a separate folder. That'll keep me busy for a while.

Hi Kobe,

I followed your instructions on page 320 of this thread. I have an 8bitdo nes30 controller with retro receiver. Every time I go into the retroarch menu with the 8bitdo controller, I can navigate with the wired controller, but when I try and set the bind with the wireless controller, retroarch crashes (hangs then goes to a black screen) and I have to reboot the NES by unplugging the power.

Do you or anyone else know why this happens?

Thanks

Sorry for late response, have been busy at work. I have not had this issue before. I have installed it a couple of times and each time I booted into a game and got into RA gui, I could change the input binds. For a test can you try from scratch? Flash original firmware, then add 1 game with Retroarch and test to see if it you get the same results? I believe it might be something else that is causing the crash.

Did you update the 8bitdo controller's firmware? The last idea would be have the wired controller plugged in and see if you can get to the same area where it crashes?

Does anyone have the supergrafx core running? I didn't see it in the pcm release.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Has there been any update on this?

a single overlay would be amazing, would make the flat screen tv much more appealing when playing games
Yeah someone on reddit posted those overlays and cheats hmods. Don't load the PNG file. You want to load the cfg file which is smaller and connects it. The PNG loaded crashes RetroArch

*chuckles politely* :P

I tried getting dosbox working, however, and it didn't, and I heard that's rather slow also.

It kept saying 'title' wouldn't run...

A user on reddit got dosbox working, but it took him a lot of setup. Not an out of the box emulator.

I had started to look into this. Someone on Reddit had posted a retroarch.hmod with it installed in the overlay section. I have not tried it myself as I wanted to create some of my own to see if I can add this in as a separate hmod.

Yeah, scroll to the bottom comments and get the borders only hmod. As I said in a previous post, they work, but load the cfg not png. The PNG crashes RetroArch.

Hey, I got MS-DOS working! Thanks for pointing out the reddit information!

I found a link to some instructions, and it worked.

It launched 'pac-man pc'. I don't know how to make the game start, but it loaded it. Using a wii classic controller, I don't know how to press the '1' button. I pressed every button there was, and nothing.

Slowmotion pac-man ftw (it is terribly slow), but works! :P

You can't start from a shortcut either (I tried dosbox in the command line), you have to go into retroarch, load the core, and browse to the exe inside the folder.

I honestly have never used Picodrive. I have always used genesis_plus_gx.hmod for genesis and megadrive games. Works great for me so far! I too only use NES, SNES and Genesis, but have recently found some really fun Turbo Graffix 16 games. These roms use mednafen_pce_fast.hmod core and are about the size of NES-Genesis games which are fairly small too.

Anyone else experience c8 errors while randomly going in and out of folders on 2.13? A restart fixes the issue with no data loss but its annoying

Check the link in my signature. Should explain the error. Your flooding the memory, even though in your case your trying to launch a folder it is no different than launching a game as far as NESC is concerned.

I see. Do the save state limitations only apply on a per-folder and not system wide basis? I am aware of running out of storage space but i am also wondering if having the original 30 games affects this anymore

The solution for the mame 2003 speed issues:
go to settings > frame throttle and set 'maximum run speed' to 1.0
Tested on Xain´d Sleena and works like a charm.
