Hacking Corrupted microSD card after power outage.

I had redNAND with Mocha CFW on my 128GB SD card and was in the middle of a WUD installation to NAND when my power went out. (unlucky.)

From that, my SD card became corrupted and I can't boot into my redNAND anymore. This was fine and I'm not worried about doing another dump. I tried plugging it into my PC to reformat the SD card into a usable state again but I have no luck. I've tried every tool from MiniTool Partition Wizard to SDFormatter to the Medicat DVD. SDFormatter throws a Write Protected error. Upon plugging it into my PC, the last modified files and folders is still there and the partitions are 30.72GB unallocated and 88.59GB in another partition.

Is there anyone that can provide some help on how to reformat my 128GB SD card back to a usable state? It would be quite helpful since 128GB cards are a bit on the pricey side. I was seeking help on Reddit /r/wiiuhacks but haven't had quite a response yet.

I've tried that as well with no luck. Any time a format says that it was successful, the same folders are in the SD Card itself and nothing has been changed. Any other ideas that might work?

It could be a permissions issue, one guy said this when I googled your issue

I couldn't do anything with my microsd card other than copy the files. I couldn't write to it, or delete or format it. I just solved the problem by going into properties and "sharing" it, and adding all controls to the user of my pc.

Maybe try to format your card with emunand9 or some other luma payload. You could boot into it with another sd card, and then attempt to use the payload to format your card.

Your sd card could just be broken, but usually when that happens you can't view the files either.

This might sound like a silly question but are you just trying to format the drive? Or have you also tried rewriting the partition table? Personally, I've saved several 'dead' drives before by using gparted and deleting, then re-creating, all partitions. Then format the drive. Thats just my $0.02. In these situations I only use linux based tools with gparted being my favorite. You can even boot straight into a gparted live session if you're able to burn a CD image or have an extra USB drive. You should try all kinds of things before giving up, like zero-filling, etc.
But, I had a problem before with a 128GB SanDisk device I used on my Wii U that started giving me "Writing protection errors", and after reading many forums I found that it actually "write protects" itself forever after a hardware problem to prevent further corruption of the data and allow you to recover whatever is left of it.

PS: The SanDisk device was a 128GB usb drive, not an SD-card, but anyway it is probably the same flash memory inside.

I feel like since it dumped mlc, slc and slcmpt, it's located on the first blank partition that is "30.72GB" unallocated and that is what is preventing me from formatting. That sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can save it with Emunand9.

That was exactly what I found online as well. My SD Card is in that mode right now where it prevents further corruption of the data and lets me view the files I have left in there. I guess that's a nice feature to implement. I hope either gparted or emunand9 can save it.

I have the same "write protects" lockdown problem on my Samsung 128gig SD card as boopcao , tried the suggested gparted route but it just hangs forever when selecting the delete partition approval , noticed other than the corrupted partition there is also a 16mb space unpartitioned but can't delete or merge it with the full partition, nothing I've tried can get the card writeable/deletable again

I've tried the Emunand9 formatter and GParted and I've had no luck. No changes to the SD card after running the format. Feelsbad.
