Hey guys,

sorry to ask another 'which card should i get' post, but...which card should i get!?
tongue.gif

Iv got a DS-X at the mo, and am starting to regret it (insert Zelda whinge here), so im after a new card that is more compatible with new roms and has faster updates. Not sure if i like the sound of using microSD cards though

but the G6 Real and R4 are sounding like the finalists to me...

can anyone give me the lodown with some pros/cons over which i should get?

and as shallow as it may sound...Zelda works on both right?

cheers all.

p.s. sorry if this subject has been discussed somewhere else on the forums, but im at work so dont have time to search properly.

R4

The G6 Real seems to not live up to the hype. The R4 is cheep and while the spring may have some issues, it doesn't loose torque when left alone, so just don't fiddle with the card when your on the move and your gold.

R4 is very good.

-fast loading
-no conversion
-build in AR engine

grab a R4 and you will never regret about getting it.

Though I haven't seen or used a G6 Real, I say R4/M3 Simply (R4 and M3DSS is the exact same thing btw, just different name only with the R4 having faster updates but can easily be patched to work on an M3DSS due to a program created by iq_132.) because a lot of games I've tried actually works on it. Plus, the newest version has automatic DLDI patching

. Another reason to get it is because it has hardly any lag on it (Haven't noticed any with all the games I've tried. Though I heard Castlevania: PoR does lag if you don't own a japanese Kingston MicroSD).

i recomend the g6 real. price means nothing to me, when i get electronics i get the best only. it requires no mini sd card so you dont have to format anything, it comes with easy to use menus and software, and i have no complaints with it.

go for the r4 if you want the option of using a mini sd card along with a cheap price.

if you don't mind going the extra dollar then get the g6 real, and if you got some extra cash get the g6 lite for gba games only(even though it plays ds too) that way you got gba games that fit in a filler sized ds lite spot and you got a good quality slot 1 device with the g6 real NOT to mention the g6 real is black so it matches the color of a real ds cartridge

yea the G6 does sound pretty good to me but does it have regular updates and fixes (unlike my DS-X-tremely wank) and has there been a fix for Zelda on the G6real like there has on the R4?...just so i can gauge how quick they patch stuff in comparisson.

Also, is 1MB the largest size for the G6?

Im going to Honk Kong in about a month so need to make up my mind before then...so i can pick one up nice and cheap!

I would go for the R4.

Great support, very cheap and no problem at all with anything (at least for me)
And the R4 team are working on fixing download play, so after that it should be perfevt.

not sure bout the price

Cyclo DS, $55?
+ Best download play compatiblity (the other 2 cards arent so well)
+ in game slow-motion feature, possible save state feature in the future
+ best touch screen GUI
+ only card to support SDHC up to 32gb

- need fast microSD, slow downs in THDJ (I guess?), and PoR crashes for slow cards
-it's new, i'm not sure everyone has tested that every single game works

R4, $35?
+ fastest GUI?
+ proven support

- slow downs on THDJ and por crashes for slow cards

G6R, $60?
+/- uses internal memory, could be plus or minus depending your point of view

+ proven support
+ no slow downs on games

- ?

those pretty much it, read the reviews and make your own decision

lol, yeah looks as if theres alot of DS-X owners jumping on this band wagon! they havnt had an update on the site since the beggining of time...

okay, what i really want to know is; is the R4 better than the G6 in any other way apart from having expandable memory? Coz i think 2MB of space is more than enough for myself...anything i cant fit on will just stay on my pc till i want to use it. Besides, who needs 2MB of stuff on there at any one time(I personally dont bother with homebrew stuff, only roms)

otherwise, are they exactly the same when it comes to compatability with roms?

sorry to keep bangin on btw...but i did read the reviews and they all sound good, thats why im having issues deciding!
