So...
I have 3 cores for arcade emulation
MAME 2000 (iMame4all)
MAME 2003
Final Burn Arcade

I don't know if FBA is actually necessary, because it seems MAME 2003 is compatible with the same games?

I compiled a test build for mame2003 under RGUI 1002, inside the zip file there is a text file with the supported roms, basically these are the four roms requested. I never played the Edward Randy game, that's a good one platformer!

https://anonfiles.com/file/a920e4ee4bc04358dda7c9e5230c7474
I think I figured out what the problem when loading these roms is but it doesn't make a lot of sense. It will load up every rom once but that's it. You exit out and try loading that same rom and it code dumps. I checked the file structure for these roms and nothing seems to be changing within the file so I have no idea what would be causing that to happen.

You just need to select "Restart Retroarch" when you want to select a different rom. That's all it takes, a couple of seconds and only for the MAME cores, prboom (DOOM) one and the Lynx one.

Not by a long shot :)

To be more precise, as far as arcade games go:

- FBA core runs the games listed in the .xls file attached in this post
- NEO GEO core runs any and all NEO GEO games below 23MB (see .xls file attached in this post)
- CPS1 core runs any and all CPS1 games (some glitches in cawing.zip, mind) (see .xls file attached in this post)
- CPS2 core runs any and all CPS2 games (see .xls file attached in this post)

- The two MAME cores run:
Anyway, a recap of this thread for anyone interested in MAME RA Wii cores & what games they play:
@templar701 's MAME 0.7.8. build for RA 1.2.2 from post #19 in the first page works with the MAME 0.78 roms listed in post #104 in this page.

@Wiimpathy 's MAME 2000 (iMame4All) build for RA 1.2.2 (post # 30) and @zerofalcon 's port for RA 1.0.2 (post #52) work with the MAME2000/MAME 37b roms listed in post #73

Please note that in the MAME core lists, i purposely left OUT any games that run on the NEOGEO, CPS1, CPS2 cores and ALMOST ALL games compatible with the FBA core (few exceptions are select few games that perform better on MAME cores).

Yeah, that works for the Mame 2000 core, but not for the Mame 2003 test build. Again, it's very strange, but a fresh rom will load up once but after that it will never load up again on this build for whatever reason. Exiting retroarch, restarting retroarch, it doesn't matter. It's one and done. Code dumps every time.

Not by a long shot :)

I tested that MAME2003 build you made, but as soon as it loaded a game, it exited to the HBC.
Your iMame4all worked perfect, on the other hand. :)

Anyway, a recap of this thread for anyone interested in MAME RA Wii cores & what games they play:
@templar701 's MAME 0.7.8. build for RA 1.2.2 from post #19 in the first page works with the MAME 0.78 roms listed in post #104 in this page.

@Wiimpathy 's MAME 2000 (iMame4All) build for RA 1.2.2 (post # 30) and @zerofalcon 's port for RA 1.0.2 (post #52) work with the MAME2000/MAME 37b roms listed in post #73

Sorry to revive an old topic - my feedback after testing all these is that the port for 1.0.2 works fastest for me for both mk and mk2. The only thing that mame2000 lacks over the 2003 build is:

1) The music is quite low in most games especially the MK games
2) There is no way to access the test menu in imame4all whereas in the 2003 build it's assigned to a button - having this this helps in changing test menu settings.

Apart from that kudos for such an awesome port - can't believe MK runs full speed.

@templar701 something really strange happened. Your mame078 core don't work anymore on my wii. Few months ago I was using normally, but I tried to run Bucky O Hare and Crystal Castles today and it backs to homebrew screen or wiiflow. First, I though its was because I was using retroarch 1.3.4 (nightly), then I tried the stable version and nothing. I tried even use retroarch 1.2.2, but still the same thing, back to homebrew channel. You can help me with this? I like to play some of these games.

@zerofalcon same thing to your version here: https://anonfiles.com/file/a920e4ee4bc04358dda7c9e5230c7474

@Wiimpathy
I tried to compile tank force driver for Wii, and here's my tiny.mak.
Code:
# a tiny compile is without Neogeo games
COREDEFS += -DTINY_COMPILE=1

COREDEFS += -DTINY_NAME="driver_tankfrce, driver_tankfrcj"

COREDEFS += -DTINY_POINTER="&driver_tankfrce,&driver_tankfrcj"

CPUS+=M6800@
CPUS+=M6801@
CPUS+=M6802@
CPUS+=M6803@
CPUS+=M6808@
CPUS+=HD63701@
CPUS+=NSC8105@
CPUS+=M6809@

SOUNDS+=DAC@
SOUNDS+=NAMCO@
SOUNDS+=YM2151_ALT@

OBJS = $(OBJ)/machine/namcos1_machine.o $(OBJ)/vidhrdw/namcos1_vidhrdw.o $(OBJ)/drivers/namcos1.o
# MAME specific core objs
COREOBJS += $(OBJ)/driver.o $(OBJ)/cheat.o

I could compile it successfully, but when I opened the rom, I just got codedump.
Which part of it is wrong? @Wiimpathy, could you please give me a hint?

Your tiny.mak seems correct. I tried with the latest mame2003 and with an older revision: Tank force works, only with tankfrcj rom though. The us rom goes back to homebrew channel.
For the latest mame2003, I've modifed Makefile.common instead and driver.c (commented out some parts in usrintrf.c and cheats.c too).

Where I can download your last version?

I've just compiled a dol from Github.

There are instructions in the 1st page of this thread if you want to compile.
Posting dols is annoying cause everyone wants a different version.

I don't understand anything about compile, but I want to found if any mame078 cores works on my wii. Every version I tried five me a error or back to homebrew channel, and I'm using only the roms from the tiny.mak

Thank you very much.
Can you share your Makefile.common? I want to compile it for Gamecube, so the size of dol is better to be small.

Ok: link.
In the archive, you'll find the modified files. You need to include more CPUS or else you get a codedump.
Thanks a lot.
I can compile IREM_M92 drivers for Wii, but when I have compiled them for Gamecube and ran it on Gamecube, Gamecube rebooted after loading the ROM. I think Gamecube's RAM is too small to hold MAME in it.

ok I downloaded the 1.0.2 setup retroarch file from one of the guys on here and dumped in some other cores I found
but looking through the cfg files, it looks wonky
like the nes cfg pointing to lynx
is this normal? do I have to change this all?
and there's so many different naming conventions used for the dol's, does this matter?
-> fb_alpha_cps1_libretro_wii.dol vs. Arcade CPS1.dol
lots of versions out there, I just want a working one ;)
I"M NEW. HALP.
THANKS!

Sorry to necro this thread.

Retroarch mame 2003 now has a fix fpr the Mortal Kombat raspy spund glitch.

A friend just managed to compile it for me on Xbox 360, so it might compile on Wii with no issue.

https://www.libretro.com/index.php/category/retroarch/page/4/

Here is a playthru UMK3 on retroarch mame 2003 CBOX 360 to show thath the spund issues are gone.
