AmplituDS v3 is now released. A huge update over v2 which improves graphics, feel and adds 3 new stages.
If you don't know what the game is about, it's based on Amplitude for the PS2... which was created by the team that made Guitar Hero later on.
The official AmplituDS website:
http://amplituds.drunkencoders.com

First off, the boxart.

Then, a couple of images:
screen1.jpg
screen2.jpg

And last, a couple of movies:
Movie 1
Movie 2

Hurry up to the AmplituDS site and get it! :)

Now, as for the model converter and viewer.
They both run on the NDS. How's that for portability?
The converter converts models in the .x format of a certain syntax to a .c file which contains a display list in an array.
You could use that .c file in your own homebrew projects.
The model viewer reads out that .c file, and also slaps on textures if you've put that in the same directory.
Check it out. It's worth it.

Direct link to the model converter and viewer.

Example models available (not to be used in your own projects):

Nice one Dark Knight ez, especially for the model creators: my 3d programming skills never really got beyond VRML and pro engineer.

This is not working on my R4 dldi. I just get a white screen = (

Did you copy the amplitudeds folder? It takes like 6 seconds to load.
I'm playing it right now. It's really funny, sadly it doesn't have a sleep mode

EDIT: I'm playing the first scene after the tutorial and I have no idea how to play this

Can someone help me? or....OUENDAN!! or something.

I've been playing for about 3 out of the last 6 hours. It's VERY addicting and I am in love with it.
I am on Insane now, and I do believe it could use some more songs (Unless there are other worlds that I don't know of).
It's pretty easy to play lagman, and I have no previous experience with the original Amplitude.
When a 'button' comes over a crosshair, hit the corresponding button (Left Middle Right = L, X, R) and when you need to move over to another sample use Left and Right. Read the PDF file included for more information.

I've got everything down myself, from hitting notes while moving to maximizing double points advantages.
Such an awesome game, and a custom song creator is most certainly needed.

One problem I have with it is the lack of proper pausing; You can't do it, you must restart the song if you do. Another is that in your screenshots it shows the 'buttons' looking like sprites and looking alright. While in the game, they seem to be models, which I like much more, but when viewing them from the right side there seems to be a polygon on the side missing completely (possibly to save rendering power?).

Otherwise, this is a great game, and it is currently taking my Ouendan 2 time...Which is rare!

First of all, to everyone, thank you for your positive feedback.
It's really great to hear everyone enthusiastic about your project.

It's like Devil_Spawn just mentioned. There's some more goodness if you've completed insane and have 2 stars on average for every stage on every difficulty. Definitely worth it. The people who got that far consider it the best of all of AmplituDS, so go for it.

Creating a custom stage is not that hard... just takes a fair bit of spare time. There have been a few ideas on how to make GUIs for doing such a thing, but they all would take about as much or even more time than the current way of doing it. Also, I'm not that familiar with creating Windows programs.

I know. Because libmikmod (the music playing library) fills a buffer (of half a second?) every time, I can't let it just pause... the synch with the stage would be off by a way too large margin if you'd continue after that.

Impressive that you noticed. The screenshots are actually well made mockups, because taking pictures wasn't that succesful, and I haven't gotten AmplituDS v3 to work in an emulator (yet). I only noticed the polygon missing on the side of the targets like 4 days ago myself. Never noticed it before that because they're moving fast anyway. You're the first person who let me know he noticed this. Good eyes.

Great to hear.

Any chance you have a copy of the stage creator? Can't find a link since the forums no longer exist.
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/amplituds/amplituds-stage-creator-v0-1-t286.html
Don't want to direct link the download but main site for the thing is http://www.aaronlindsay.com/

Link was fixed a few years back on that by the AmplituDS author.
Fired it through virustotal and it said nothing of note. Added an upload of that here too.

Author of the stage creator is also apparently still active on https://github.com/AerialX (possibly twitter as well but they have a protected profile)

for anyone interested, "the biggest necrobump (https://gbatemp.net/threads/news-sega-confirms-sonic-adventure-dx-for-2003.4892/)
was of 5036 days. this one is of only 4825 days. 201 days of difference

the champion is still there, but this is probably a good second place
Spam, "is this any good?", "I like this" and whatever else is one thing. Asking for a reup of a relevant download for an old piece of homebrew (probably one of the better offerings on the DS at that, and one of the few places on the internet likely still active and listing it) is quite another.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
