I wanna thank everyone else for their help. You're all great and knowledgeable and helped a dummy like me. Thank you for all the guides and tips and everything else, and I apologize if I started any sort of debate on which is better and all that. I just want to play my games and be able to add my friends. Thank you all very much, and if I have any problems I'll be sure to come ask you guys. One thing I will ask though, I have a few CIA's on my card. Does the guide cover backing up saves and games? I don't want to end up losing all my progress in my games.

Edit: And also, since I'm already on ofw 9.2.0 on sysnand, do I skip all the downgrading parts of the guide?

Why do so many people feel offended if someone expresses critical thoughts about A9LH? I would like to ask everyone to stop offending those who do not praise the allmighty A9LH god (by calling them "lazy" or "afraid"). Yes, it is safer, yes it is not difficult to set up and yes it takes a lot of time. Do you need it, though?

I have said it so many times before:
emuNAND+CFW(Luma)+menuhax+autoboot is easy to setup and almost impossible to mess up. You can easily backup your emuNAND with a click of a button.

A9LH takes so much time to setup for a safety feature you will most likely never need. Unless you literally press the red button by disabling autoboot and updating sysNAND.
It is possible but unlikely that Nintendo discovers a way to disable menuhax on old 9.2 systems or manages to detect emuNANDs. However, it is also possible but even more unlikely that Nintendo manages to block A9LH (because of a modified firm0&1). So even A9LH is not waterproof. It just decreases the already very low chance of a block by Nintendo and increases the safety of an already very safe exploit.

Except for the faster boot times A9LH makes no difference in everyday usage.

There aren't any instructions to back up saves specifically, but it does instruct you to backup your SD card and NANDs, which includes everything (yes, saves too). But if you want to be extra careful, you can back them up using JK's Save Manager. It is a .CIA save manager than you can install and IMO is the easiest to use.

You only need to do Part 4 & 5 of the guide.

I haven't seen anyone feel "offended" when someone criticizes A9LH. However, there is a small minority of individuals that attempt to dissuade newbies from jumping on the A9LH train at all costs. Before switching all of my 3DSs to A9LH, I was also a bit hesitant, but I didn't go around discouraging people. It is the best way to hack the 3DS. It is the safest option as well considering how many safety checks there are in the most current guide. Plailect has made this process so simple and safe that any arguments against A9LH hold no ground. It is safer, better, faster booting, cleaner, simpler, and more stable. You can't just generalize and say "it only has a faster boot time."
However, it is also possible but even more unlikely that Nintendo manages to block A9LH (because of a modified firm0&1)
Yeah no. It is impossible for Nintendo to remove A9LH from consoles that already have it installed. They may do something to prevent it from being installed in the future, but they cannot "remove" it from hacked consoles. That only makes it even more important for everyone to go ahead and install A9LH while the method is still possible.

Many people become extremely defensive and start to call people lazy, afraid or even dumb

Yes it is the best and safest, but it takes forever to set up. You will be sacrificing hours for an obsolete additional safety layer. How many locks does an iron door need?

It boots faster and at 100% success rate, menuhax fails about 10% of the time and takes 10 seconds longer. "Cleaner"? Well no colorful splash screen, other than that nothing. Simpler? Certainly not. Even it is not difficult, the amount of time that has to be invested to setup doesn't make it "simpler".

It doesn't matter if Nintendo can remove it or block the setup. What matters is if they can detect the modifications done by A9LH or emuNAND. Both are highly unlikely to be discovered. The only hack on 9.2 that can be blocked is browserhax. The rest uses old cartridges.
I love this a bunch of idiots arguing about what they use. Anyway op you decide whether you want a9lh or menuhax either is good.
Please obey the forum rules and stop insulting others.

The only one being extremely defensive is you, negative nancy. TC already made his intentions clear with his first post and subsequently reinforced his point with a follow up. You're just derailing the thread now with your blabbering.

That is exactly what I mean. "negative nancy" and "blabbering" are hardly a sophisticated matter of speaking to someone. You have insulted me dear sir or madam and I demand an apology. However, I agree that further discussion in this thread is futile.

Hello sir, I was like you yesterday (the only difference was that I had CTRbootmanager and Menuhax).

I'm a rookie like you and I did not a backup of my save games, but you should (at least using JK SM). I messed up my whole games and saves because I'm stupid:
In some part of the guide (around part 4) you have to format twice your emuNAND and you need a FBI injected in your H&S. Well, it gived me an error and FBI didn't let me to install anything in the first emuNAND format, so, because I'm stupid, googling I deleted some .db files that seems to fix the problem (actually it did) but... You will fuck up all your installed games and saves.
If you got that error, just enter to the eShop (seems like it will fix it) instead of being stupid like me.

PS: I just followed step by step the part 4 of the guide (having a 9.2 sysNand and a 10.7 emuNand) and all works perfect with 0 troubles. I don't regret, I feel a lot safer now and I have like 2GB more of free space in my SD.

BTW, my apologies for my crappy English, I hope that you could understand everything I wrote without problems!

Thanks for the information! Sorry for maybe the dumb question, but when I was modding my 3ds with RXTools, I remember having to do something called FBI injection, and being able to install CIA files through the Health and Safety app. Does that mean I already have the FBI installed, or do I need to do a different one?

It might work, but the guide suggests "the latest release of FBI". I would inject the newer release.

Yea. If you actually bothered to read the guide you would know that all the complexity of the process comes from backups and safety checks that make the installation safe. You are welcome to share your opinion, but please don't make false claims in order to dissuade individuals from A9LH.

I had been away from the scene for about a year, has sysnand 4.3 with rxtools 2.5. Last week I installed arm9hax and it wasn't hard to do. Time consuming, absolutely. You need to follow the instructions step by step and read and reread everything. Now I'm rocking my cfw sysnand, fully updated and protected. Highly recommended.

I am at the same Point.
I have sysNand on 9.2 rxTools on 11.0 and I don't have an Autoboot, means when I start my O3DS I have to visit a website to launch rxTools...
Now I want Arm9, where do I start? Can I keep my Games on EmuNand? Please help a Newbie :)

Set up menuhax with Luma3DS first, so you can boot into emuNAND. Then, start from part 4 of the guide and boot emuNAND whenever it calls for redNAND (they are the same thing). In part 5, you'll flash your backed up emuNAND (make a backup before all this) onto your sysNAND or emuNAND (whichever you want).
