I didn't think it made a difference, but then, I hadn't tried DS mode when in emuNAND. Just tried it it (both an actual game and the DSTWO), and it booted up just fine (I use RXTools with emuNAND that was created with the GW tools). Doesn't the system reboot itself to DS mode, like it would for AGB mode? The difference between those two is that for AGB mode, it loads the game from the SD slot vs the card slot.

Now, if this were to launch a DS game from the SD slot, then that would be something.

There is no romloader or anything, is flashcarts and retail games running.

Aparently most people can't play DS Mode in emunand, it just crashes when booting the game.

After @ccfman2004 posted that message, I booted into emunand and tried normally loading a DS game and 3DS crashed, updated the firmware and crashed again, changed rxTools version to another build and it crashed again, updated emunand and it worked. (So I had to set everything as the former 3DS I talked in this thread for it to work).

That's why I decided to make this thread, I think is a combination of firmware plus rxTools version and nothing more.

You can see at least 2 other users reported their DS flashcards working just fine and many others saying that freezes (just like my other tests).

Ah. I don't use rxTools since I've had a Gateway for quite some time now.

Will it also work if you used the mset method to boot emunand or it only works if you boot through the browser?

Yeah it should work just fine through MSET too.

It seems to work fine here - 3DS booting in to RxTools's emunand via themehax, then an Nintendo DS game been launched from within emunand.

When you exit the game the 3DS tries to load your sysnand, however themehax kicks in again so you end up back in your emunand.

This isn't new news guys, it's only under Gateway that you can't run DS games.

It's always worked under rxMode, not sure about Cakes/reiNAND though.

Well... that's one way to explain it

But it actually crashed when I was using rxTools before... I had sysnand 4.2, rxTools 2.5 and Emunand 9.9 in this pink 3DS (since I haven't been using it in so long).

It only started working for me when I:

1) Manually updated to a full 9.2 sysnand.

2) Updated rxTools to a nightly build (09/28).

3)Updated emunand to 10.2

I booted emunand and tried to run the flashcart/DS games every time before that exact setup and ended in a crash every single time...

Sorry for the miss-guiding guys I swear I wasn't trying to pull a hoax in any Gateway user :hateit:

So if your DS Mode freezes your 3DS in rxMode try doing the steps I mentioned above. @OctopusRift

So only nightly build 09/28 build work on full 9.2 sysnand? Have you tried any newer build?

@wormdood and @tivu100 must be tripping then...

As I said before, DS Mode didn't work for me neither in this 3DS using rxMode neither before this, so you can't say it has always worked as normal when you have several people saying otherwise, if it always worked for you then congrats for you buddy but many other people can't use it as normal in rxMode.

It seems to work in ReiNand already, that's probably why I never noticed it was new

Maybe some Gateway user can try manually updating to 9.2 and try DS Mode to see if the firmware update has something to do with this fixing DS Mode in emunand?

And updating emunand to 10.2 too of course.

in fact there is a whole other thread about this that died off as no one found a solution to this problem and back then the same thing happened but on a smaller scale the number of people that had ds mode working in emunand was very small compared to the group saying they could not and that it was impossible
so if this works for me i may even necropost it there in hopes that it will help the others as well
