Hey, so I did everything like said in the manual (on the CD) but my DS won't find the card. It simply boots the standard DSlite config screen.

Here is what I did:
Formatted my microSD to FAT16, put the firmware on there, and some roms.
Then I put it together with the r4ds into my ndslite and yeah.. Wont do shit. DS says "no game found in slot1" or something likethat.
Fuck. I must be doing something wrong, halp!

Made sure the MicroSD was in the R4 and not your USB slot?

Format it again (but this time to FAT32), and carefully follow the instructions again. If all fails, blow in the slot in the DS and on the cart a little.

Take out the R4 card and the microSD card out. Then put both back in, if not working. Repeat that 5 times. Appearantly the R4 connects a bit bad to the ds lites, so it may not always make 'contact'.

If it's still not loading, then tell me where you have this file '_DS_MENU.DAT'.

Okay, none of your suggestions worked.

My _DS_MENU.DAT is in the root directory of my sd.

FYI:
1. My DSlite is brand new (lost it's virginity to the r4ds), so I've never put anything else in there.
2. I'm not using a cheap china microSD.

I'm perhaps going to switch the case of the r4 to black, as someone on this board did this when his r4 wasn't recognized

Have you set everything up on your DSL yet? Like name and any other items? Also, you said you put the .DAT file on your root, so are you using 1.06 beta?

Oh snap. Thats embarrassing!
Only used the one at the CD.
This is what the manual said:
QUOTECopy all the files at ‘system\english\skin-*’ on the disk to the root directory of the TF card (including _DS_MENU.DAT ; _DSMSHL.NDS ; skin-*.jpg and Shell folder);
So, WITH the skin folder?
Anyway, going to put the 1.06 beta on my sd

Edit: yes i set everything up before putting anything in

It's not an issue with either the microsd, files on it or the microsd card making contact.

Even without a microsd card in the r4, when you put it in the nds it should boot, but give the error "Couldn't find the SD/TF card".

Obviously your error is either the R4 isn't making contact with the nds properly or a faulty R4.

As you say, try the other case. Try blowing in the NDS (and on the r4 contacts). Try wiggling it about - and if all else fails return it and have it replaced.

Just take a look at the picture in my above post. That is starting with 1.05 and then copying over the 1.06 files...

Just did that. Opened the white case, looked at the everything, put everything back together. (In the white case again)
