Hacking Supercard dies in a day!

Well, I was very excited to receive my SCDS today.

However, after the process of putting in the OS and adding some games I ran into a multitude of problems and it seemed impossible to get ANY games to run. Even ones that previous people had said 'ran without problems'. I followed the speed recommendations, save types, everything! This is using a Kingston 1GB microsd I also ordered from bamboogaming.

My SCDS was very random. Sometimes it would boot a game on some settings, and then sometimes it wouldn't. I got a few games to run for a little while, until they seemed to inevitably crash and then refused to boot up again! During some trial and error of trying to find the right speed settings that would let me play without interruption (using 0655 - EBA), the game would stutter mid song then freeze. At first I thought this was a speed thing so I kept adjusting speed. It kept happening.

And then when I went to reset my DS to try another speed... I got 2 white screens after the Nintendo Health Warning screen. Tried again, same result. Double checked microSD card and it read fine from my PC. I formatted again anyway and reinstalled the OS and 1 game to check. Same result. On some boots the SCDS wasn't even detected!

Oh well. Just my bad luck I guess.

Anyone had any experience with bamboogaming on returns or exchanges? I hope they're good about things!

update: wow ok now this is strange. The SCDS menu started booting up again and I managed to start up trauma center and EBA, but both crashed during play. Now the SCDS has returned to not booting again... what the hell? Could it be a heat related issue?

of an off related note since i have no idea , when did you order yours and when was it shipped? i'm still waiting for mine (ignore the singapore flag i'm in australia)

also i think bamboo does do returns, email them at the support address.

I´ve ordered SuperCard DS One, EZ-Flash V, R4 DS and M3 Simply. One unit of each.
It seems I will have to sell SCDS1 as soon as possible!

Ordered it on the 20th. Got the shipped email on the 24th and just arrived today.

Yeah! I might just order an R4/M3 at this rate and just chase the refund on the SCDS. Although I hope I can get one at all, the fact that the problem seems to come and go could hurt me on a return

yeah my Supercard DS just came, gonna collect it tomorrow. Hopefully it's better. if it keeps acting up like yours, i'm gonna ask for a refund and swap it for an R3

Have you tried using a different SD card? I've heard bamboogaming ships counterfeit SD's.

I have a Supercard SD. And the main problem i think is that the MicroSD doesn't connect very well too the card. First i had trouble getting it to work. But i jammed a piece of paper in the slot and that did the trick.

Yeah, it might be...

I have the same problems that you have... I just leave it off for awhile and then try it a little while later, and it boots up.

I gotta sell the SC DS or return it or something...

Probably gonna get an M3 Simply or R4 instead - All these random crashes and it not booting up sometimes are pissing me off =/

I'm pretty sure you're SCDS is defective. Better get it changed.

My SC is also broken on the first 30 minutes
Now it cant detect my microsd(tried two brands)
I wasted 30 euros on shipping...

Bamboogaming are reputable in my opinion. I had a faulty SCSD and they replaced it. Their refund policy will cost you 15% of product cost but you'll still get most of your money back. They might just exchange it for an R4 if you tell them what has happened.

I too ordered mine on the 20th of december, and had the shipped email on the 21 and recieved it yesterday, i cant test it out yet, as i dont have a working card reader, i hope that mines not busted like yours, tell me if and how you went with returning it, just incase i might need to.

Hmm. I can't because I actually don't have one. Although I think a friend has a really small 32mb one in her mobile phone, I might see if I can scam that off her for a day to check. Yeah I have no idea about the authenticity of the card. I ordered it from them because I thought they would be reputable and send me a legit card. I checked the code on the back of the card's box and it did verify on the Kingston site. But then again that is a barcode on the back of the box... not on the card itself.

I gave this a try and it still had a fairly random result. I stuck a little bit of paper on the inside of the microsd card slot where the microsd faces up.

Both! I started with the 1.1 OS and had absolutely no joy with it. Went to the 1.0 OS off supercard site and actually got a brainage and trauma center to run for a good little while (15-25 mins) before they too crashed, and wouldn't boot up again.

Honestly, the thing that bugs me the most atm (besides the obvious defectiveness) is that it seems completely random!! I'll be able to play a whole song in EBA before it crashes. But when I go back to boot it up again using the same settings it won't load!! I can only assume the supercard is defective, since I am able to read/write to the microsd from the PC I assume this means the card is fine.

Atm I'm just waiting for bamboogamings reply to my email. Chances are it'll be another week or two before I can get another flashcart

If you do get another flashcart will you be sticking with a supercard ds(one) or going for a different brand? Also i havent yet checked their returns policy as i am not sure if mine works or not, but can you exchange it for your money back? Once i do get a card reader which might be in a week or two and i can use my DS(one) what are some signs its faulty, as some people have had different problems. But most were that it crashed and wouldnt boot up again. Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes for it to crash so i know what to look out for?

Honestly I will probably go for an R4/M3 Simply because they both sound to have good compatibility with NDS games. Although the menus don't look as nice as SCDS1, I can live with a dud menu and working flashcart more so than a nice menu and dud flashcart!

I'm surprised you have to wait that long just to get a card reader, I'm sure you can get a cheapie one from somewhere pretty quickly - like a local office works or computer store.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be able to figure out if it's defective or not. Even though SCDS1 isn't the _best_ slot1 solution on the market atm, it still WORKS according to most accounts. It just seems to take more effort to run certain troublesome roms is all, but it should still work. So if yours just flat out refuses to work and just generally acts stupid, it's probably a sign there are problems!

But I'm sure you'll have better luck than me!

I was looking on the bamboogaming site and it seems that the R4 and M3 Simply are around $82 AUD, because of the high shipping for 5 items which is $33 so i might just aim for a refund or hopefully get a working replacement. Otherwise ill try and goto a site that is around the same price, but i dont know any others that ship to aus fast and cheap, can anyone suggest one incase my supercard is defective. :'(

Eh? I'm pretty sure it would be shipped as a single package and you'll be charged postage for only 1 item. I through the order process myself before just to check postage and it's $12AUD for the 1 item. I think you're thinking of the combo sets they sell which are actually just a group of separate items anyway, hence why they charge the extra postage.

from what i understand so far, the Supercard DS, while not 100%, does have great support from the makers, so possibly it will get better as the new os gets released.
