The 360 had none of that.

retroexistence, are you a retard?

FOR 360:
HAS IT - dvd drive mod chip
NOT YET - hello world
N/A - drive code
HAS IT - dump method
HAS IT - some kinda firmware/hardware docs

WunSick, are you competing with retroexistence?
If it wasn't for the hacks in the drive code (DVD drive firmware), the current state of dumping/using burnt media wouldn't exist on the 360

iza: "Hello World" is usually the first thing to be done once a method is found to run unsigned code on a device. Simply putting the text "hello world" onto the screen using the devices processor is usually the "first biggest thing" done once a exploit/hack is found to get code onto the device, to lead the way in a "proof of concept" sort of deal.

On another level, it's also the first thing done by most beginning coders...

Depends who finds the exploit, if it's a homebrew team it'll be a hello world. If it's one of the real console groups it'll be a snazzy cracktro; Ever seen the utopia bootdisk for the DC?

I'm hoping one of the old Amiga groups will jump on this... would be nice to see a decent demoscene develop around the wii..

You entirely missed his joke/sarcasm.

I meant drive code as in debug commands, as in drive code for gamecube, u needed specific drive code to unlock debug commands allowing you to trick the drive.

"some kinda firmware/hardware docs" was meant as firmware mod, but i suppose i should have been clearer.

But being unclear and totally uninformed are two different things.

Paradox, the guys who released the first legit Wii ISO into the wild, say that this "BootLoader" is fake. I'll believe them over some random guy on YouTube.

The first video is quite well done. The Wiimote goes out of frame right when he loads the "backup" of Wii Sports, though, which probably means a second console was involved. It's possible that he switched controllers with the the off-camera Wii running the original copy so that his pointer would work.

I find this the most useful post in this thread:

Firstly, the Wii is capable of reading dual layer discs. This was stated by nintendo themselves a while back.
Plus if you look at this image taken by yours truely you can clearly see that the disk is labled "RVT-R Single layer disk". If the Wii was unable to play dual layer disks why would they need to specify that this disk is single layer wouldn't it simply say "RVT-R Disc"?

RVT-RDisc.jpg

Secondly this isn't the method of booting backups i mentioned the other day AFAIK. But if one method is being tested, who's to say another isn't also? But i'm still skeptical til i see further proof. New Years day is just around the corner...

The question I have is, how did you get that RVT-R disc?

And, will you be my friend? :-D
