Looks real to me. Works like the MT card but without an exploit it seems. Weird timing, since there was just a topic about making a flashcart that can emulate official carts a few days ago, and now one has appeared. Possibly they had been working on this for a while, and they saw the topic on GBAtemp and decided to make an announcement.

Pretty cool though, but if it just emulates an official cart then a lot of things won't be possible on this that the Gateway can do. I guess that's a good thing for both companies, they aren't competing directly since this will mainly appeal to people with 5.0 firmware or higher, as most people on 4.X will prefer the Gateway with more features and easier game switching.

So this is more of a piracy-only hack, whereas Gateway's hack is a full system hack. This will never run homebrew or VC/3DSWare games (not without another exploit, anyway)

If it's doing as much emulation and trickery as has been discussed, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a noticeable difference in battery consumption.

I was thinking that this could possibly be used by the big N to detect it, that is, if it is possibly for them to monitor how much current is flowing to the cart slot.

I honestly don't think this kind of detection is practical, necessary, or even possible. As far as I've seen this works like a DS flashcart.

We don't even have to speculate on how it will be detected in a firmware update. Nintendo'll do it some magic way, and all the people who are able to decrypt firmware updates will tell us what they did.

nintendo will turn on the cameras on the back of the 3ds if it see's a SD slot or a blue light it bricks the console....the end........crap nintendo why would you put the card slot away from the cctv on the new 3ds

Seriously, the amount of people claiming this can't be patched because of assumptions on how this thing works is ridiculous. At every place this is being discussed at, everyone has this mindset.

i cannot belive until now no one has mentioned the possibility of this being the gateway-team, releasing a new product under a different name, in order to make their users pay again. me personally i would not care that much. got ten times the worth out of my gateway.

other than that, i welcome this eddition to the piracy-scene. more so, because due to it not being hack-based, i assume this can be replicated by chinese teams pretty easily (provided it is not fake) and therefor cheap(er) clones would surface.
this is all assumption on my part, granted. i really do hope this will work on the New3DS and wont get blocked for as long as possible.

You forgot the part where Those who own GW dont need this as GW has way more features this doesn't provide. If it even was GW, they are attacking a completely different market.

Quite possibly that this could be true and they are releasing a new product under a different name, yet we all need to see if this product is deemed real and not to be trolled into a fake product.

Due to the limitation of 4.x only firmware for GW, I cannot see how much further they can go with more added features, except the planned cheat support, save editing, etc, as emunand updates is all it would need for future games. Stock of GW compatible firmware consoles are becoming scare by the day and wont be around forever (don't get me wrong there are places you can source them from, if you know what to look for) and the ones that are available people are starting to increase the prices due to the demand of them.

From a business perspective, GW would ideally need to shift all the remaining stock they have to re-sellers and come up with a new design, product that can please post 4,x users, so that they can make easy dollar, as I cannot seem then making much profit now to the 4.x firmware limitation with all the stock they still have, whatever the figures maybe.
