Can anyone give me an advice? I'm not really with this stuff. I bought my PSP 3001 model with CFW already installed on it. It has 6.20 Pro B9. I assume it's the permanent one since I never had to do anything to reactivate the CFW whenever I turn off my PSP. I want to upgrade it to 6.20 PRO C but I'm afraid of doing something wrong that could cause problems. So I'd like to make sure of some things

So, from the OP, when updating my CFW, I need to run the installer for my current CFW but there's no PRO updater/installer in my PSP when I look for it. I assume the previous owner deleted it after installing the cfw. Do I have to redownload the installer? what is 6.20 vshmain.prx patch? does it come with the 6.20 Pro B9 CFW?

any help would be really appreciated.

Wait, so, I don't need to redownload the ProUpdate for my current CFW (6.20 pro B9) anymore? I can just go straight to running the ProUpdate for Pro C2? Also, what are these 2g, 3g etc. models? Mine's 3g I think. Would that cause any problems?
The Pro Update will overwrite your current CFW, then the 620Permanent will patch it so you automatically boot into it. You don't need the original files. If you're worried about bricking, then I recommend just going for a 6.60 CFW and just use the Fast Recovery option whenever you want to go into CFW.

Ok, so I tried running pro update and it worked fine. when I tried running Pro Permanent though, it asked me instead if I wanted to uninstall. So I chose "No" instead (pressed O button) then it seemed like it hanged/froze. I restarted my PSP and it still seems to work. It also says PRO C now in the system information and I'm now able to play the game I wanted to play. I'm guessing this is all good? nothing I need to do anymore?

btw, I'm really thankful for your help TecXero. Hope I didn't bother you too much.

I generally just uninstall the permanent patch then reinstall it. It probably doesn't make a difference as I don't see any reason why the patch would have to be modified for the changes in the firmware.

I own a PSP2001(V 5.03) with apparently 5.03 Prometheus installed. At least Prometheus is showing up on Memory Stick even though when I try to run it, PSP outputs:
"This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted."

Well, what method should I follow? I tried to install Hellcat's Recovery Flasher, but it also outputs the same message:
"This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted."

What should I do? what is the most appropriate method to do in this case?

I'd recommend updating to 6.60 ME 2.2 or 6.60 uPro-C2, unless you're holding onto IRShell or something like that.

Hey guys,
I'd like to know what is the stock firmware that comes on a PSP-E1000 and if it's hackable to play backups?

Thank you.
6.60 is the highest version, and is hackable to play backups, so it doesn't matter either way.

To answer your question, E-1000s come with 6.50, according to this chart.

Hey FailName,
Thank you for your answer, I misstyped the model, it's a E1004, so it doesn't matter since any PSP nowadays can play backups, even the E1004 right?
Thank you in advance.

The last digit, in this case the "4" is just the region code, it doesn't matter. Your Street falls under the E1000 category.

Alright, if I need help, I should post here right?

BTW, How does MS Pro Duo Adapters work with the PSP? Seeing that MS Pro Duo's are kinda expensive, I'd rather have one of those adapters that let you have 1-2 micro sd's. Are those good? Does it make any difference?

They work perfectly fine. For some reason people do say they can be unreliable but I've never had an issue with using an adapter. Even fake ones. So long as you leave the micro SD cards in the adapter and dont take them out or anything, they are perfectly fine.

Nah, most likely, I'll use usb cable to put stuff in the cards so, how do they recognize in the computer if I use USB cable on the PSP? As 1 only unit?
Because, it's way cheaper to get, say, 2x16gb in microsd's then to get a 32gb pro duo

Yep, recognises as one card to the total value of the 2 Micro SD cards. I use 2x64 micro SDs in mine and it works perfectly.

alright, I'll settle with that then, specially since there's a store near me doing a promotion on samsung class 10 micro sd cards, so I can get 32gb for like 20€ tops, class 10 xD

If it's a minor problem, post here. If not, might be better to open a new thread.

The adapters work fine, but for compatibility sake make sure the Micro SDHC is Class 4.

So my psp is on 6.30, how could I get it on CFW?
What model do you have? If it's a Go, Brite (outside of ones with a rare motherboard), Street, or Slim (with a TA-088v3 motherboard) then you can downgrade to 6.20 for an auto-booted LCFW. If you have a Phat or a Slim (without a TA-088v3 motherboard) you can go for full permanent CFW under 6.60. If you have the rare Brite, you're stuck with LCFW.

Here's a chart. It's a bit outdated. LME/ME is now on 2.2, Pro-C is now on Pro-C2, and, where it says 6.20 Pro-C, next to it it where it indicated the LME firmware, it should say 6.20 not 6.60.

The ones that can run 6.20 LCFW can also run 6.60 LCFW, but without the permanent patch. So pick your poison.
