So... create a new IRC room? Not saying that the guy isn't a prick like you claim but really fighting over an IRC rooms ops and cancelling projects over it furthermore doesn't seem a bit silly to you?

There are only a few "dev" channels and StoneCypher is in control of all of them (last I checked). There is a lot of the backstory that you fail to understand. This isn't some little IRC tiff, because if it were, DSOrganize would continue on. Don't speak about what you lack facts for. No, I will not share these facts. That's up to the author and those parties involved. To be honest, I hope they all don't decide to air their dirty laundry. The scene has already suffered enough damage.

I agree with you, but since people generally lack facts about this they're going to speculate... and wildly at that. It'd have been more constructive of Dragonminded to have left without a big fucking emo rant on his blog about shit that probably has little to do with actual development of DSOrganize anyways. Since when has development EVER required IRC communication or rather should I say... idling. I question the guys maturity level starting drama with...

If you want to complain about this, go see the people in #dsdev and #mellowdsdev on efnet.

Drama like this is an attempt to envelope and burn out "the scene" that's connected to these channels, probably negatively affecting other projects for the DS. Great job. It's obvious he doesn't care much for anyone other than himself to me. Even after his M3 rant. Anyways, that's my 2 cents about "scene drama" for any scene in general.

He quit over IRC drama? What a fucking cry baby.

Hey, here's a fucking hint.

/quit

Wow, that was tough. For someone developing such a popular app for the DS, he certainly gets riled up by useless banter. What a fucking pussy. If he goes on in life as a programmer and one of his bosses say 'This application doesn't work on this machine, and you suck for not making it work.' Is he going to cry about it and quit? There are other places out there other than IRC for reference and help, even if one needs to resort to IRC for help, there's always the /ignore command.

I'm amazed that someone quit 'the scene' over something so trivial and mundane. How pathetic.

Dude what have you done for the scene lately or even at all? I u nderstand what your saying but did you have to say it like that. So stick to criticizing the homebrew not the maker cuz criticizing a homebrew you couldnt even imagine creating is all your ever gonna do.

Just because he doesn't code himself doesn't mean he can't say what he says. I personally agree with him. In my profession shit like this happens all the time, and if you can't take it and break down you don't get any more work. Now with me it's a competitive field and people like him are weeded out very early in the game. It's only because there are very few hobby coders with any real talent out there in the scene - people with talent generally speaking have jobs and don't bother hobby coding because it's what they do for a living. Those few that do don't get all pissed off about any interpersonal issues to the extent of dropping any single project let alone out of an entire "scene".

I never used DSOrganize so I can't speak for the guys work but just reading what little I have read makes me totally agree with hakdizzle. Now, if it was due to programming frustrations caused by the hardware makers and he quite supporting "platform x" where x=bad supporting hardware, sure, go ahead and stop supporting that or stop developing the software for logistical reasons. To quit over things like "SC splitting the scene" and stuff is just lame.

IMHO.

Good grief

Don't mean to rag on the guy b/c it is his freetime he's donating the the homebrew cause, but it seems like he's most concerned with making some sort of point or going out in his own little fizzle of glory.

Notice his clever use of expletives such as "FUCK THE SCENE" and "your fucking lies" or my favourite "fucking rotten". Again I can appreciate his developing as a hobby but learn how to communicate man. When he comes across as an emotionally unstable pre-teen its hard to sympathize with the guy.

Thats the point. In your "profession", you are gettin paid. So, you have to put up with shit if you want to continue to work. On the other hand, this guy isn't getting a damn thing for his hard work. So, he doesn't have to put up with all the shit talking. The shit-talkers and us innocent bystanders end up hurt the most in the end because we dont get any good homebrew anymore.

Fucking lamers. Oh well, I'm satisfied with DSO the way it is now. Its still the top DS app IMO.

I'm not asking for dirty laundry or anything personal, but everything you've said makes this sound like nothing more than IRC Drama, despite your claim otherwise.

There is a good reason why I make a big round about IRC channels because for some reason there exist more idiots and wanna-be operators than you would imagine possible to exist. I like this application not only from a users point of view. Homebrew is very week on the DS at the time beeing and with weak I talk about the content not how it is made. That one of those problems is the age of the developers is not astonishing. For a dude of 12 age he is doing fine programming but for a dude of 12 age his temper is way off. If IRC or the scene is putting a bugger on you just ignore the nuisance and get on with your life and your passion. A true hacker ( mind the real meaning of this word you... nevermind ) gives a shit about the opinion of others because he knows an art still today many people have no real idea about ( many can write a program but only a handfull can write a splendid program ). So he should stop getting headaches due to some pussy on IRC who does not have a real life and obviously lacks any sense of communication. Funny but most ( not all ) IRC operators tend to be unsocial kiddies with an ego larger than their e-penis. Hence if this dude has guts he should pull this through and simply block off the buggers.

Running is cowardice and makes those idiots strong. Standing though though makes them small pigs.

I used IRC out of neccesity awhile back when my http well was running dry. I hated the experience in those channels.

It reminded me of going into a strange bar in a small town. When you walk in the door everyone is staring at you. You try to be friendly and noone responds until you do something they don't like. Then, they act like AHoles and when you tell them to go F themselves they kick you out.

Now, I have drilled new http wells and don't even bother with IRC.

IRC is good for getting what you want quietly and leaving again. It's not good for talking.

Games I downloaded from DSO never worked...

DSorganize was meant to be an organizer. Well, just think of it as an, hm, organizer... and a pretty good one too. If it's not your intention using an organizer then just don't care about this homebrew

It worked well for me and it was a great feature. DS Organize is more than an organizer. It's great for playing media, too. Manga & mp3s ftw!
