I'm pretty fucking SAD to see a homebrew program I use everyday, while hoping it will get even better (yeah, shoutcast support is still very young and needs more work, but oh, how awesome it is when you manage to play somafm's "secret agent" station on your DS!), and it's NOT going to be updated anymore.

Right now, I don't give a fuck about whatever is going on in "the scene". But Stonecypher is preventing ME, the user, from getting the one DS app that really made a difference - I know I got two or three people to buy a DS and supercard just because of that homebrew alone.

Dragonminded did something good and useful, and I don't remember SC's work. If dragonminded says SC is a cocksucking douchebag, I'm all inclined to believe him.

Wow, that was tough. For someone developing such a popular app for the DS, he certainly gets riled up by useless banter. What a fucking pussy. If he goes on in life as a programmer and one of his bosses say 'This application doesn't work on this machine, and you suck for not making it work.' Is he going to cry about it and quit? There are other places out there other than IRC for reference and help, even if one needs to resort to IRC for help, there's always the /ignore command.

I'm amazed that someone quit 'the scene' over something so trivial and mundane. How pathetic.


Dude what have you done for the scene lately or even at all? I u nderstand what your saying but did you have to say it like that. So stick to criticizing the homebrew not the maker cuz criticizing a homebrew you couldnt even imagine creating is all your ever gonna do.

My post has absolutely nothing to do with the project, it has to do with the person. If I said the program sucked dick and all this and that, then you can make the comment you just made. I'm a programmer, have been for several years. I know what it takes to make a working program and I also knows what it feels like to get tossed around by people saying it's not up to par. I don't walk out and quit, I try to fix it or I ignore them altogether. Your last sentence makes no sense at all. You want me to criticize the homebrew application, something I have very little use for, instead of criticizing the homebrew author, the reason for this topic in the first place. Right.

What he did for the DS scene was great, no one can argue that. The application is very powerful and offers a lot of potential. But to quit because of some jackass on IRC is just pathetic. Chances are he will come back and continue developing it once he hits puberty. No real author outright quits a project they've invested a ton of time in because of some IRC kiddie. I've been on IRC for well over a decade and have seen people come and go, I've been through all of the drama of various topics. I've seen people quit certain channels and projects only to come back again in a week, if not sooner. No one in their right mind would just quit their project over something so trivial. Either this person has some SERIOUS issues with esteem or there are other factors in play. Who knows. If he releases the latest source, or if he had already, then someone might pick up the project.

There is a good reason why I make a big round about IRC channels because for some reason there exist more idiots and wanna-be operators than you would imagine possible to exist. I like this application not only from a users point of view. Homebrew is very week on the DS at the time beeing and with weak I talk about the content not how it is made. That one of those problems is the age of the developers is not astonishing. For a dude of 12 age he is doing fine programming but for a dude of 12 age his temper is way off. If IRC or the scene is putting a bugger on you just ignore the nuisance and get on with your life and your passion. A true hacker ( mind the real meaning of this word you... nevermind ) gives a shit about the opinion of others because he knows an art still today many people have no real idea about ( many can write a program but only a handfull can write a splendid program ). So he should stop getting headaches due to some pussy on IRC who does not have a real life and obviously lacks any sense of communication. Funny but most ( not all ) IRC operators tend to be unsocial kiddies with an ego larger than their e-penis. Hence if this dude has guts he should pull this through and simply block off the buggers.

Running is cowardice and makes those idiots strong. Standing through though makes them small pigs.

I agree, if you go back to his blog Here he has obviously had time to think and doesnt back down from what he has said or done.

I hope he gets over it and clears his head properly and with time finishes the work he has started.

So is he 12 or not? I'm not getting all "age-ist" or anything. I'm just thinking he's very talented how ever old he is, but if he really is 12, jesus the guy's got potential. Another thought... people don't easily abandon their creations, no matter how difficult they are (I've got kids, I know, blahblahblah.) Hopefully he'll come back around once things are cooled off. In the meantime, an email or two voicing appreciation couldn't hurt. I don't know what the SC drama is about, who's right and all that crap, but I do know that online politics can be a real bitch to slog through, mature or not. Damn this is good coffee!
