DSOrganize is dead

Author Dragonminded has had enough

I'll let the bombs fall where they may, but it seems that Dragonminded, author of the popular homebrew application, DSOrganize, has pulled the plug on both his homebrew contribution as well as his participation in the scene indefinitely. This is a sad day to witness one of the brightest, productive minds within the homebrew scene walk away due to apparent personal conflict. I will refrain from mentioning any blame, though I have my personal thought about it. Perhaps, in time, Dragonminded will return. You can read his parting message at his blog.

I think it's because:
- there are no donations - no outcome but fame
- too much stress from owners of flash carts that aren't compatible with DSorganize.
- keeping him away from his family, significant other etc.

but really, I don't mind because there is a working copy for the supercard and some M3 carts if not partially.

it's a great piece of software indeed.

I'm flat out tired of this bullshit. There is nothing but rot left in the DS scene. From SC splitting the scene to card makers not releasing drivers and everything inbetween, it is just fucking ROTTEN. I quit. Good fucking riddance. I hope you are happy. If you want to complain about this, go see the people in #dsdev and #mellowdsdev on efnet.

Well, he seems to be quite angry...

Agreed.

This is unfortunate news for me. I use DSOrganize pretty much every day, I was really looking forward to new updates on it. It's too bad it came to this, but I guess I have to accept Dragonminded's decision.

What exactly did he mean by 'from SC splitting the scene' though?

SC = StoneCypher

An IRC operator of #dsdev, who is disliked by half the scene (yet no one removes his op).

In either case, sad to see another good coder go. Assholes probably bugged him to death about new features and shit.

there's always people who ask for bugfixes and new stuff, if you can't handle that kind of stress, don't bother even getting into the scene because that's what it is all about..

why do you think the dude over on the PSP scene quit working on irShell, pretty much the same deal but over a stupid Neoflash contest

Let's make one thing clear, folks. His reasons for leaving had NOTHING to do with people heckling him for updates, fixes, additional features, etc. from the user base. This was a conflict with the homebrew dev authors. Since StoneCypher's name was dropped, I'll speak a bit further. StoneCypher makes me look like a choir boy despite what foul mood I may be in. He has indeed created a rift in the homebrew community and feels superior to all of his peers simply because he has accomplished more than most. I have personally witnessed his poor attitude and demeanor on more than several occasions.

From aspiring devs to fellow peers, such as DarkFader, he treats people like garbage and expects thanks for everyone for doing so. I don't care for StoneCypher one bit, and I can get a rat's ass as to his role, past or present, in the community. He is the equivalent of a recreational drug. He brought a sense of bliss at one time, but now he's just destroying everything around him. Perhaps his fellow "ops" will realize that the end of DSOrganize is a sign that StoneCypher is no longer a resource to keep in charge. He does more harm to the homebrew community than any previous efforts of contribution or aid. I detest him completely, and I may be biased in that he and I had a single argument one evening. Still, StoneCypher-haters are becoming greater in numbers daily.

So, if a member of the dev community is reading this, then listen the hell up, since you have chosen to remain on the fence or to stand by that jackass's side. Either you remove him from power and cut all ties, or expect DS homebrew to suffer more casualties. I don't solely blame StoneCypher for this. Rather, I blame everyone who could have stopped this from happening as well. It was pointless, unnecessary and there is no excuse for it..just like StoneCypher's existance.

Waaaaaaah.

All this dude does is rant and whine because he works on a popular project and thinks he can make a difference by up and quitting like a baby.

People like him in the PC emulation scene years ago were quickly forgotten about by people who actually cared about their projects and completed them.

Good riddance.

So... create a new IRC room? Not saying that the guy isn't a prick like you claim but really fighting over an IRC rooms ops and cancelling projects over it furthermore doesn't seem a bit silly to you?

There are only a few "dev" channels and StoneCypher is in control of all of them (last I checked). There is a lot of the backstory that you fail to understand. This isn't some little IRC tiff, because if it were, DSOrganize would continue on. Don't speak about what you lack facts for. No, I will not share these facts. That's up to the author and those parties involved. To be honest, I hope they all don't decide to air their dirty laundry. The scene has already suffered enough damage.

He quit over IRC drama? What a fucking cry baby.

Hey, here's a fucking hint.

/quit

Wow, that was tough. For someone developing such a popular app for the DS, he certainly gets riled up by useless banter. What a fucking pussy. If he goes on in life as a programmer and one of his bosses say 'This application doesn't work on this machine, and you suck for not making it work.' Is he going to cry about it and quit? There are other places out there other than IRC for reference and help, even if one needs to resort to IRC for help, there's always the /ignore command.

I'm amazed that someone quit 'the scene' over something so trivial and mundane. How pathetic.
