I would like to propose that I split my list into two, because i dont think its fair for a port/remake to edge out an original title, just because the port has nostalgia its riding on. :bortz:

Original Titles
The World Ends With You
Radient Historia
Rune Factory
FFTA:2
Any of the Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker titles

Remakes/Ports
Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver
Front Mission
Chrono Trigger
SM64DS
Dragon Quest 6

Chrono Trigger is a great port, though I miss Frog's Shakespearian dialect. And the resolution and sound quality isn't as good as the original, but that's just the fault of the DS hardware.

As for Super Mario 64 DS... Ugh. I tried so hard to like that game. I love the upgraded visuals and all the extra content, but I hated how they removed some of the original features (seriously, no metal Mario???). Also the DS hardware nerfed the game severely. In addition to the typical lower resolution and sound quality, the 8 way digital controls just don't work for this game (and don't tell me I can use the touch screen for analog input, it feels unnatural as hell), and the addition of the run button makes the run, jump, and attack combos near impossible. :(

I used the thumb strap thing to control mario. To be honest, it was too early for the game to debut on a handheld. They should have waited and released it side by side with Ocarina of time. :bortz:

Precisely my thoughts. The DS just wasn't powerful enough to handle the game. Some 3D games turned out pretty good on the DS, but porting a game from a dedicated, more powerful 3D system with analog like the N64 just didn't work out that well. I'd love to see Super Mario 64 on the 3DS. I feel like the chances are slim, but hey, Rayman 2 ended up on both platforms, so you never know.

Nintendo should be cashing in on the remake train for the 3DS, considering the greats they have on the 64. Ocarina, Majoras, Star Fox, SM64, Banjo (well rare i guess) etc. :bortz:
